Rcz should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
In the good old days, IMSA GTP was given its own class during the 80s at LeMans.

I was thinking it might be nice if the IMSA-spec P2 cars were given their own class, open to non-IMSA teams too, allowing all-pro lineups. The problem would be number of entries.

Exactly, in mid-late eighties, Le Mans was all about prototypes, no GTs.

For a good 15-20 years I think Le Mans was prototypes only and they had 55-60 cars easily for that. GT's came back in 1994 after the 1993 Le Mans 24 had only a 28 car field.

I noticed that when the grid for a race hits an all time low a change comes about after that in some way. The low point for the 12 hours of Sebring was 27 cars in 2009. Guess what that brought in: Pro-am specific categories. That is still a new concept. LMPC can go away and die and not be replaced. TUSC should just be Prototype, GTLM, and GT3. No pro-am proto class is needed. If you want to do that. do GT3.

I hope all the current LMPC teams will consider moving to GT3 next year.

I just considered it.

Doesn't mean it will happen. If you own a car that you can still run, and compete in, why change? That's the problem with the stupid DP....

Unless it's forced down your throat, nobody will ever have a desire to do anything different when what you have works just fine, and your business of running a race team continues like clockwork.

LMPC could be replaced with P3 cars using current Chevy engine from the LMPC cars. I think a P3 car should be the first step before trying to build an american P2.

The PC class will continue on! Which chassis type to be utilized is yet to be determined. I believe the contenders to be the FLM09, P-3, DP and P-2. Pro-Am is not going away in either prototype or GT.

For 2017 I would like to see P2, P3, and GT3, no more DP, LMPC or GTD, GTLM.

Not sure why they hate for GTE, it needs some reform, but it's one the most popular classes

Thats for sure. I can't wait until Daytona 2016 to see how much faster the GTLM's will be. They went 1 min 43 in qualifying this year which is very impressive that would have been the overall pole as recently as 2007 I think.

How close do we expect the PC's and GTLM's to be in terms of pace next year with the performance upgrades given to the GTE's?

Also, more long term, how close are the P3's going to be to the GTE's?

I don't get the angst. GTE-Pro at Le Mans only had 9 entries this year, which is less than the first year of GTLM in USCC...

I expect that the 5 second performance gap will be maintained throughout all the classes next year in TUSC.

I guess it depends on the relative health of the classes... no use in having just 3 or 4 cars that can go for overall wins.

That would make no sense. BoPing a spec class with a car that follows no rules. DW is probably gone after this year. They've got a GTE-spec car coming.

Aren't the PC's pretty maxed out on pace this year?

Plenty more left in the LS, which would also allow for more aero. Have conti build a slightly softer tire to go along with that........ easy peasy.

P car program is "greenlighted" for next year. GTE car might run later this year. Two different projects, teams.
