I have his old Lola T 492 car.

I have a large collection of slides that I am sorting through, and I think that what I put on here is all the super saloon pictures I took. So; sorry no!

Excellent!

As you know Dave, I am always trying to encourage photographers and fans to put their pictures on this website, as, otherwise, sadly they are just forgotten. As they say " A picture's worth a thousand words".
So, keep them coming Dave. Thanks.
Besides it reminds me of a lot of the good times we all had back then.

I have spotted 'UK Super Saloons' on facebook (about 60 pictures in all), with a couple of Doc Enderby's Karmann Ghia; same car?

Sad ly not.
Alan Humberstone raced a Skoda bodied Lola T490 he bought from Tony Dickinson. He crashed that car badly at Lydden Hill in '85 and it was rebuilt on a T 492 tub and lots of the nice bits carried over.
To top it off so to speak, Humberstone persuaded Doc Enderby to allow a body to be taken off his moulds (which he still has) and that shell went on the 'new' Lola in vivid pink with black stripes.

Alan raced the new car very briefly in the late 80's before leaving the sport to Spain.
The car travelled around a lot from garage to garage and I bought the rolling tub less shell (destroyed) and it now has a 3.2litre Porsche 911 engine in it for hillclimbs.

I am trying to find the chassis number of the T 492 and i know it came from a Dennis Humphries who lived in Herne Bay when he sold it to Alan.

Sorry to 'pinch' a bit of time on this thread but trying to find Dennis!

Hi,
Here's a photo from Lonridge May 1976. I think Dave shared the car with Alistair Thompson .

Quite right Andy, though it was David Taylor, not Dave Smith. David T now owns the Beetle.

I apologize for what was a very senior moment, I even referred to the car as a Capri!

Hi,
Two more from Oulton in 1976. XJ8 in paddock. Thanks for the help with two drivers previously posted. I've not been to any races recently through illness. Is there a series for old Super/ Special saloons nowadays?
