UK TV regulations don't allow it.

Good luck to him if he can change the TV advertising laws, I also think MSA (or whatever they are called this month) regulations prohibit those advertisers although you'd of thought AG would of changed them whilst he was in charge.

The advertising of tobacco products is effectively totally prohibited in the UK.
There are restrictions on advertising alcohol, and the regulations for advertising gambling services are being tightened. The restrictions are in place due to the harmful and addictive nature of those products or services. It is highly unlikely that the regulations would be relaxed for motorsport. |

Alcohol sponsors are allowed in the BTCC. Crabbie's was the last brand to do so, in 2014 on Jack Clarke's Ford.

Motor racing has enough image problems in the modern world as it is without allowing tobacco sponsorship again.

You could say the same about alcohol advertising in a series featuring heavily on tv, with a potential under 25 audience, I am thinking about the old 'Dont Drink & Drive' campaign.

Alcosense and Calais Wine Superstore are both series partners.

They will probably ban oil companies soon, so that will be even more of a problem across motorsport.

Tobacco advertising is banned because of the harmful, and addictive, effects of the drug.
Likewise for the restrictions on alcohol advertising. Some products and services are so harmful to society, that for the good of our society overall, their promotion is, righfully, severly restricted. The majority of the population understand that simple fact. |

https://www.politics.co.uk/reference/tobacco-advertising To be honest though, I'm amazed that a 2020 post in a motorsport forum is advocating for tobacco sponsorship to return. Considering that tv advertising of tobacco was banned in the UK 55 years ago, any move back towards that direction would fly in the face of decades of progress.... |

Seeing as insurance companies haven't been paying out on many claims because of lockdown, they would be ideal sponsors with extra money.

There are people who, permanently or temporarily, are influenced by these things. For that there are these things are in place. It also sets the principle that something that is harmful isn’t mainstream enough to be advertised. |

look at PORN , it's more rampant than ever in one form or another so why bother to prohibit advertising it ? certain "hub" is even mentioned in mainstream TV shows/ movies (like Black Mirror) if cigarettes were such an evil why aren't they prohibit outright like cocaine , heroine etc ?
