Allow teams to find weak areas in the rules, then fine them record amounts for doing so. Result would give an estimated GP of around 99%. |

The results were just updated on Natsoft and on the Supercars site. It looks like Coulthard has been dropped to 21st and there's been a points penalty of 300 or 400 points applied to the team.

The car should definitely be penalised but the team penalty means nothing, no deterrent at all for Penske. Who will do it next time? If you were in the train of cars behind with more fuel, you would be ****ed.

CAMS had to be seen to do something, but it has to have no teeth.
Coulthard the driver did no wrong, but the team transparently lied through their teeth to advantage both of their team cars. |

The wrong for the driver of #12 was accepting the order without question, knowing he was the length of Conrod Straight behind three car in front of him on the road and falling back...

Was the data from Car 12 taken into account during the hearing yesterday?

Between the rabid Ford fans that think Fabian should be sainted, and the rabid Holden fans that feel Fabian should be murdered, seems many of those inbetween feel Scotty deserved the win but Team Penske don't deserve the win, which is impossible to reconcile.

Plue a fine of $250,000, with $100,000 of that suspended.

That’s enough Supercars for a long time for me. There is nothing here stopping repeat behaviour. Typical limp wristed response from an org more interested in rebranding than looking after the sport.
Moral of the story is for 250k u can buy a Bathurst win. Last edited by HDTVKSS; 20 Oct 2019 at 01:21. |

The only reason the stewards didn't penalise more teams championship points is because they don't have the authority to. Maximum amount of points penalised as possible.
Penalties accepted by DJRTP as they are not excessive in the circumstances. It's a strongly worded report from the stewards. |

Some scathing comments in Steward's report.
“We are prepared to assume that there was no intention to advantage Car #17, however, it defies belief that the Engineer of Car #12 just happened to have formed a mistaken belief that there was debris at some unknown location on the circuit and that just fortuitously resulted in the very problem anticipated with Car #12 being resolved,” read the stewards outcome in part. “We find, and it has been admitted, that in giving the direction to the Driver of Car #12, DJRTP infringed the principles of fairness in competition and behaved in an unsportsmanlike manner. “We do not find that there was an attempt to influence the result of the Race but it is difficult to avoid the conclusion that the result was affected to a degree, certainly for Car #12 that would otherwise have re-joined the circuit after its pit stop in a much lower position. “We agree with the DRD that, putting to one side other components of the recommended Penalty, a substantial Fine is called for, not the least as a deterrent to all other Teams from engaging in similar conduct. “We are willing to suspend part of that Fine only because we have never had cause to sanction DJRTP for any unsportsmanship type breach in the past, DJRTP co-operated fully with the Stewards Inquiry, has co-operated with the DRD’s prosecution of the Charge and has pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity. “As indicated above, the Stewards have no power to impose a Points Penalty exceeding 300 Championship Points. We impose that maximum Penalty. “We also agree with the amendment of the Classifications to demote Car #12 to the final Classified finishing position of 21st which, will mean a consequent loss of further Teams Championship Points for DJRTP (the Provisional Classifications have Car #12 in 6th position). “It will also mean a loss of Championship Points for the Drivers of Car #12. For the reasons explained above, this is not unfair given that the Driver of Car #12 was to a degree complicit in what occurred.” |

That is a somewhat palatable outcome; however it has not been revealed whether the data from Car 12 was considered, particularly the water temperature and/or oil pressure readings around the time the slow down occurred.

No real need when the team admits to playing up...

I have to admit this is about how I feel. I feel there needs to be a penalty but Scott deserved the win on pace, but potentially not on fuel, if SVG had indeed not pitted.

“We find, and it has been admitted, that in giving the direction to the Driver of Car #12, DJRTP infringed the principles of fairness in competition and behaved in an unsportsmanlike manner." Besides, data likely shows the car got hotter while he was driving slow (Story himself said temp was spiking during SCs due to reduced airflow). |

The slowdown was 100% strategic. I don't know that changing the winner is warranted but the penalty isn't enough, Penske will literally not care a whit. They are already spending tens of millions and obviously don't care about Fabian at all. |
