"This will allow to switch to the other championship with minimum changes"
only if german DTM will decide to use the same kind of engine used in japan. I read about US DTM since late 2010, sincerly I think that the american DTM series will never see the light. |

So, is there anybody who believe that Japanese manufacturers will move into DTM and vice versa? In my opinion, as Toyota has its euro base, they might be involved, but thats all. I think Germans are much too conservative and will stay with their proven cars. On the other hand - it would be a good move to come with "exotic" Toyota/Honda/Lexus - as one of first, to secure media attention, thus money from sponsors etc etc.
On the Japanese side, i can actually see a lot of german machinery - when imports were avalible, they were always there - Group A cars, Superturismos, GT3s.... |

Private japanese teams willing to buy german DTM cars to run in super GT, out from nissan-toyota-honda influence would be a great incentive to make accept the 2.0 L4 engine formula to german manufacturers.

Why? They seem to agree to downsize to the 4 cylinder in the near future. And no DTM team will step up to GT500 now anyway. So they should just wait and do the turbo 4 hybrid engine.

What I heard was that the Japanese don't what to take they're cars to Europe but what DM,Audi,BMW to bring their cars to Japan.
This move to DTM rules was to save their racing series in Japan. The Japanese are losing their car culture with their youth, they rather have new electronic gadgets over a car. |

Just look at these numbers and ask yourself if BMW would like to race in Asia.
In 2012,BMW sold 491,512 cars,up 40.4% over 2011 Japan 56,607 cars, up 18.9%(native manufactures in the negative) and Japan is almost a close market(taxes) to outside manufactures That is a better market than Europe at the moment and you spend your marketing money(racing) where you can sale more cars. |

Still, I wish those two series good luck if they made an agreement in secret on whether they would do a cross-over race or not. |

Cars are expensive, so they need to go back to cheap fun like the late 90's early 2000's were for Japanese automakers. There isn't any Silvia, Celica or MRS, no S2000 or Integra, no RX7, no Supra... the SUV craze erased those cars, now people wish they existed!

Also Nissan working on Mini-Z to target FR-S/BRZ. Toyota is considering the introduction 2 new RWD sports cars, the idea would be to have the current 86 sit right in the middle of the three. http://www.motortrend.com/future/fut...arget_frs_brz/ http://www.speedhunters.com/2013/08/...e-sports-cars/ I want back those old times!!! |

Relating to some of the earlier post about seeing DTM cars in SGT and vice versa I think it is a strong possibility because SGT and DTM are customer based. There is factory involvement but they rely on customer teams. All it would take was 3 Audi's and we would probably see some kind of tracksie support people/truck.
Also. Why are the HSV so slow in a straightline compared to the other cars after the development. Engine or drag tradeoff for the downforce? |

for years lexus was the car with the best top speed and the honda the car with the worst. In my opinion is about drag and aero set-up; final power and torque bend more or less is the same for the 3 engine.

Honda never seemed to have the best power. But always seem to have good handling cars. The HSV is a great driving car, at least from the comments of its drivers.

Don't know if japanese samurai can confirm or not, but I remember that more than once toyota and honda claimed that the nissan engine is the most powerfull because was designed and projected exclusively for super gt. Anyway we are talking about a difference of less than 10hp.

To me it seems that Nissan has the best overall package. Whereas the Lexus and HSV performances fluctuate depending on if we are going to long straightaway tracks(Lexus advantage) or something like Suzuka(Honda territory) but Nissan is always near the front fighting with either the Lexus at the quick tracks of the Honda at the high downforce tracks. They had poles at every kind of track I think.
