Obviously Fujitsu, Pirtek, Irwin and Caterpillar have all had multiple engagements with the sport over time, so you can't write any of them off.

Stanaway was 100% taking the SBR seat. Interesting to see what happens now

Richie, A, has no budget to speak of and, B, won't commit to any Aussie gig until he knows if he has a factory GT gig. FACT.

SBR is in name only, after Sydney it will not exist ant more. FACT.

From where I sit, it's a clear possibility that PRA may be split into two separate camps in 2017 (ala HRT/Kmart-HSVDT back in the day).

5 cars - 3/2 (split 3 Nash / 2 French) ???

Drivers
-Winterbottom
-Mostert
-Waters
-le Brocq (ex SBR)
-Bright (BYO REC)

Where in the Nash/French split they settle is the only question.

Super Black Racing as we know it sounds to be over.

Couple of questions:

1. Where is the money going to come from? PRA have always done pretty good undercutting sponsors, but there is going to be some pretty hot competition for the big sponsors this year, and there are some guys available who are much better sponsor material than Waters and le Brocq.

2. Jason Bright does not own his own REC outright, it is probably hard to value a REC right now but does Jason have the money to buy out the Jones share?

There's a lot of uncertainty going into next season, that's for sure.

Probably moreso than any other year.

It's true, Bright does not own #21 outright. He co-owns it with Bradles. But I'm sure Bright would have been stacking his cash for just this kind of rainy day to make Brad an offer he can't refuse to buy him out of his share.

SBR ends, stops, finish's after the last race at Sydney. What Chris Pither and his well funded Sponsor do, one thing is for certain is that it will have nothing to do with SBR.

Ok SBR is no longer.
Who drives the car next year. There is still a REC...and where is the REC based?

The REc has been sold to PRA, or one of its owners.

The question has been whether that SBR "team" would stay linked to that REC or be linked to another.

the "team" Super Black Rack is seperate to any REC now.

However Mark seems to believe taht there will no longer be a Super Black Racing team now that the benefactor has passed away. While there is no definite evidence of the team ending recent bit of information suggest this may be the case

With all respect Miss Peckstar, if Mr Petch says SBR are finished, you take take that to the bank that they are over and out, signed sealed and absolutely delivered. With a capital full stop at the end.

The Super Black REC is now owned by Rusty French. The team (it seems/correct me if I'm wrong) is/was in the hands of Greg Hahn in one capacity or another (seems to be reducing every day).

By joining the dots we can tell that despite initial reports that Rusty French was going to lease the REC back to the Super Black brand for another year (2017) albeit seemingly outside of the PRA stable (but likely still with PRA tech and tech support), this is now seeming increasingly less likely as the silly season goes on.

My theory was that the SBR "brand" may continue to exist outside of Rusty French's REC, by aligning with, say, Erebus. Mark Petch has kyboshed this saying Super Black is dead in the water in all ways, shapes and forms after the final round this year.

All this really means is that the Nash/French consortium will have 4 in-house RECs between them to run how they please. In my mind this virtually guarrantees le Brocq being in the maingame alongside Winterbottom, Mostert and Waters. The variable is Bright and his REC. This is where the theory of essentially a PRA-A and a PRA-B team come from for 2017.

All this really leaves is probably the outcome of the bidding war for #4 - will it go to Pither with Ice Break or Wood with GB/Advam???

Good Summary SJA, Rusty may well leave the ex SBR REC in Super Black Name, for a possible future revival perhaps, but yes from an operational point of view SBR is as dead as a Dodo.
