You all have a great time although grids are a little thin!
Now if anyone is selling a Lotus 15 may be in market! |

We’re parked behind our box but legged it to the hotel after accomplishing that feat. Pizza beckoned......
So early brekkie then back to get everything unloaded. Tyres to be fitted when HP set up, fuel order to be sorted, at least 4 free practice sessions have been booked for today, or possibly five, then there’s scrutineering for four of the cars. How the heck to peeps find time to go karting? Oh, and fire alarm went off in the hotel at 0200. No idea how many are staying in it but only about 30 of us bothered to vacate the building! (And by the stairs of course ) |

Looked at sea from hotel brekkie room and sea fog. No problem says someone, it will be clear at the circuit......
Wrong! Rain and drizzle. Damp and slippery almost all day! At least warm with it....... |

Karting was a lot of fun, many thanks to Iain for organising it. Sadly not the best do at for us otherwise, as the Gilben’S engine has gone sick... |

Looking at this morning's free practice results they show Mike's SLR in class GT2 and the Emberson SLR in class GT3. Is that just a clerical error or are they actually in different classes? If yes, why?

It may be engine sizes. I think they run in different classes in Gent Drivers too.

They were homologated (presumably as a development of the Morgan plus 4) with the Triumph 2.1 litre engine, I believe. Are these race series run to FIA regs?

Yes both races require HTPs so I guess FIA regs. I think one was a prototype with a different engine. Mike Bell will be able to clarify.

Clarification.....
SLR uses +4SS homologation (#64) which has the engine capacity at 1991cc, then with a later variant of 2138cc. So the car can run either, (and in the past they have), but as the bigger engine gives much better torque it is the normal choice. When the red car’s engine failed at Monza, it was replaced by the only spare that was available, which is 1991cc. After much discussion with organisers, it was accepted into the 2l class for this event. It’s about 7 secs a lap slower than in previous years with a 2.2 lump, and doubt we’d beat a good Grantura..... |

Just seen the Benson & Hedges Cossie on the back of a flatbed looking very damaged. Hope the driver is OK....

Ouch. Hope so too. The circuit can bite quite badly although we've been lucky so far.

Also looking at the timing the Ric Wood Godzilla hasn't turned a wheel.
