Your forgot that Rollcentre are running the Radical LMP2 next year as well. Might see them on the starting grid at Sebring.

I would just suggest being aware of how such rumors are circulated. If one understands the nature of rumors it will be much easier to remain positive when some things don't pan out. I think that this off-season is one of the best we've had in a long while, and its only the beginning of December!

Taurus Lola B2K/10 is to run at Sebring, and they'll have a new chassis after that. As for Van Der Stuer, there planning to run full time in ALMS with their Lola B2K/40. Also LNT might be at Sebring.

Re the Kruse Sebring "News":-
Quote:
"..Testing will begin in February and the Team will cross the Atlantic to Florida in March for its first race in 2006; the 12 Hours of Sebring. Kruse will then hot-foot it back to Europe for the official test for the Le Mans Series which is scheduled for the following weekend at the prestigious Paul Ricard Circuit in the South of France..." |

I posted a quote from the Creation forum on the 'Creation to convert their DBA to hybrid in 2006' thread yesterday which suggested the team were aiming to have a car on the grid at Sebring. Well, this morning came a far more positive post. This is the important bit:
"We definitely will be at Sebring and, subject to entries, Le Mans." Let's put them on that list, Trey!! |

Either way, I loved seeing the car lead the class (and even the overall race for a lap early on last year, and will welcome them back). I say, "run the whole season boys, forget that silly little series that keeps changing it's name over there). |

Here is a more recent response to the question of a debut at Sebring put to MJ:
"That is our intention, and it is looking very likely. Nothing is completely certain ...ever... but this is as close to what is going to happen as we can tell.” Now the question is whether that will be two cars or one. |

Audi Sport has confirmed today at the presentation of the R10 that there will be R10s at the 2006 Sebring, they did not specify how many though. The other race will of course be the 24 Hours of Le Mans! I wonder if there will be the Champion R8s at Sebring as well? I would say so because the R8s are penalized for their age now, allowing the new LMP1 spec cars to be faster. And what if the R10s did not take victory at Sebring; they could have the R8s for backup on a 7 straight overall victory! I'll be there on March 18 to find out!!!!!!!!!

Sebring is looking better and better. So we've got Audi Sport Team Joest vs. Dyson Racing Team vs. Penske Motorsports in terms of the primary prototype players.
I'd have to say that the Penske-Porsche package is the most proven at this point. It has tested at Weissach, Estoril, Barcelona, and Road Atlanta. On top of that it ran without a hiccup for four hours at Laguna Seca. Plus they'll have two well crewed cars this time around. However, Penske as a modern day sportscar team are rookies by comparison to the other two. The R10 seems like it should be reliable with its R8 herritage kept in mind, but how will it go first time out at the 12 hour race that seems more like 24 hours? Of course they have the experience factor in spades with the drivers and Joest. Then there is Dyson and the new P1 Lola. If the P2 is anything to go by this car may well be the pace setter in terms of lap times. However, it is still a new car. Dyson will not have the testing miles of the other two. And how will the new AER bi-turbo perform? Good crew of drivers though and a well experienced team. March is too far away! |

jhansen, that Porsche has also tested at Monza, Sebring, and probably a few other places beyond that. Definitely looking to be a strong package.
As for what Champion intends to be on the grid with next year, that remains an interesting question I guess. The fact that the #2 was for sale indicates that isn't 2 R8s, but what will it be? I wonder how this latest news changes that equation, or whether we don't really know the full story yet. I hope there's gonna be something Champion-coloured this season. |

If this thing is real then it would be great news for sportscar racing, however I have my doubts about this. Still, just wait and see what emerges, if anything over the next few months I guess.
