I guess there was rain on the way after all. This could get interesting.

The Peraltada is fantastic isn't it? Get rid of the chicane though.

Uh oh, signal problems again. Race cut away to show a shot of crowds mingling.
Please don't do that again! |

Bourdais appears to be driving a more intelligent race here, looking after the tyres.
Hope Justin holds on! |

Well done to Bourdais - a ballsy move to win the race

The move was a bit rough IMHO, but congrats to Bourdais nonetheless.

Champcar officials have penalised other drivers for less in the past. Close call.

great race at the end would like to see S.B in an F1 car soon (eg boot Fisico out and give SB a go, I reckon he'd be a lot quicker and would be able to overtake a lot more)

Interesting race, and a interesting move by Bourdais at the end. The move was firm but fair though IMO. I echo the thoughts of rallycrosscraig - Bourdais should have had a F1 race seat years ago but thanks to F1 politics this hasnt been the case.

Well that was definitely the best race I've seen this season. Not just in ChampCar, but across the board.
Remarkably few incidents for such tricky driving conditions. Usually you'd expect dry/wet races like that to be a safety-car fest. Thought Seb's pass was great personally. He had to go for it didn't he? You just know PT, Zanardi, or any driver worth their salt would've done the same. |

Great race, nice to see a podium shot for a change; I thought Seb was going to drowned that grid girl.

Sebs pass on the last lap would have disrupted the drama, had it been panelized. Would have resulted in a lot of crowd confusion in as much as they all saw the McDonald's car take the checkered flag......They would only hand down a penalty in an extreme case on the last lap, especially if it changed winners.

Best race of the year!
A last lap pass for the lead...you can`t ask for anything more. Rain and all. Although, if SB`s move had not worked out... it would have been a different story. Lola...RIP. On to 2007. |

A great way to finish the whole Lola era - wet / dry racing with so little contact, and a last lap pass for the lead. Will Power might've been the star of the day, especially in the wet - it would have been ironic if Wilson and Bourdais had clashed and handed him the win.
Roll on 2007 - all we need now is a few US drivers. |

http://www.champcarworldseries.com/N...e.asp?ID=11092 Pretty wide disparity in attendance estimates.........but even CC's reported three-day total is less than half of '03. |

Stands looked full from tv so I'm happy. We did go though a slump in Mexico but with Pemex involved now and Telmex taking a bigger development it looks like we are regaining ground.

Definately one of the best races. The fact that there was little safety cars and long racing time was great to see for a change. Some great battles as ever at that circuit. Also the drivers did very well IMHO not to have many moments when it was tricky wet conditions...
Buddy Rice's debut was a solid race. Hope to see his hopes come true and see him race in Champ Car next year. Great battles for the lead between Wilson and Bourdais throughout the race, nice to see many close battles as well. What can I say? WOW. in terms of Bourdais' last lap move. |
