The worst car ever is just about anything made by the US manufacturers in the 80's. The ugliest? The Pontiac Aztec!

The mention of the TR7 reminds me of not just an ugly car but a really daft bit of designing on the part of dear old B.L.
Our Hurricane kit has TR7 tail lights which were very dim. The individual lamps were earthed through the bulb holders bayonett fitting into the aluminium casting- not a good idea, remedied by soldering earth wires to the bulb holders. Also, there was no reflector of any cind in the light cluster- it relied on the rough aluminium surface! cured with some shiney aluminium tape. I now have TR7 owners looking in wonder at my extra-bright lights. All because of B.L. wanting to save a few pennies.... |

Ray the competivsness had less to do with the aero kit and more to do with the fact that the VL was more rigid than the VN. The only thing the Walkinshaw had going for it was that it had a basic front splitter.

My vote goes to the Toyota Yaris Verso - the only car thus far to actually make me feel physically sick to look at it. In fact, the chubby-cheeked look on its face is exactly that which is seen on someone about to barf.

Two nominations.
1. The Morris Marina later the Ital. The only Ital designed car not to feature in the history of Ital book, yet they named the car after the design house! 2. The Austin Allegro. The only car ever to have a square steering wheel. What really gets me is that someone suggested a square steering wheel at the design meeting (British Leyland - run by committees) and not only was it seconded it was actually voted in. And another thing, why were they all painted beige. Any colour you want as long as its beige. Just surprised that it didn't have a tweed trim. Notable runners up are the TR7, the Princess/Ambassador and the Maxi. |

No, I'm not. It looks very innovative. These are the cars everyone one of us will be driving in the future.

If that's the car of tommorrow, then I think that the Historic Car movement has a very bright future indeed.

The Ford Mustang II of the late seventies is a travesty. Built on nothing less than the Pinto platform. At least the Pinto didn't pretend to be sporty!

Neil, I saw a Mustang II in West London today. I forgot how ghastly the little things were. Just four years on from the drop-dead gorgeous Mustang Mach 1, just what were they thinking?
