The Police van was waiting for a set of lights to change when Hamilton decided to smoke the bags. But lets face it that's far less interesting isn't it than them following him and waiting for him to do something wrong.

They interviewed the officer who issued the ticket, who said Lewis was more than pleasant and cooperated just fine. Wrong place wrong time, that's all.

Either way, my point was that people are reading too much into the actions of the Australian police. I reckon it's fairly likely that Hamilton would've more received the same treatment if he was a non-famous, caucasian Aussie in a rubbish car.

Any person, in any car that did they same thing was getting pulled over. I would also hazard a guess, the members might have let him off had camera's not been all over them (and if they had, they would be getting criticised for giving special treatment).

Indeed. Victoria is very tough on Anti-hoon stuff, we have had some big road fatalities with this sort of driving the last few months, car loads of kids killed instantly.

It is a charge (not a ticket), but a minor one which will result in a fine. Lewis may not be able to drive in Victoria for a couple of months, but I dont think that will be an issue March 2011!

We are not talking about a boy racer chav here we are talking about probably the best driver on the planet there was never any risk to anyone or danger to public safety

But he's not above the law just because he's a better driver. And it may not actively encourage others to do it but it's hardly going to send out the message he's been sending out as part of the FIA's road safety campaign

Sure. But he's human too, and he has failures like any other. He wasn't caught doing something that really would be shameful to people eyes like we're used to see with other personalities everyday. It's not like people will see that and follow his manners.

Congrats, another one sucked in by the media. Did you get the follow up stories about these indian people? The one where his car wasn't stolen, he made a false report to claim insurance money. Oh not so poor hard done by now are they....

Another story has just emerged that a police officer in Abu Dhabi saw Lewis doing a wheelie as he left the race circuit after qualifying. It now appears he has been leading a double life in the eyes of the public, famous racing driver on the weekends and promoting the road safety message that the now PC FIA has taken on, but the reality is he is just a regular hoon when he dons his civvies .

And police are still investigating the mysterious incident where he crashed his Mercedes ML500 SUV into a tree outside the front of his house in Monaco at 2.00 am a couple of weeks, ago, following an argument with his GF, allegedly!.....

I think you will find out of the first world countries Australia is the most racist of all.

But of course being an Aussie your going to try and deny that as your country and its credibility is on the line.

Fact is many white Aussies cannot stand anyone with colour. Having worked with Aussies here in London, I have witnessed it myself is how they react to ethnic colleagues and how they behave and talk about London and its many ethnicities.
