Further to the "You've got to try it" - I did that this year - thinking I'd hate all the politics, faffing around, etc.

Instead, I loved it, and will be volunteering for next year.

Proof that you can only make up your mind after you have experienced it yourself.

My 1st time filling out a GP form so hopefully I can beg some help.
Does anybody know who was the orginising club fo rthe 1st of the 2 historic GP events that happened in May?
Who was the orginising club of the Silverstone Classic and what dates it was on ?
How do I find out what catagories the meetings that I did were run under? I now know to note down this info for next year

My comment regarding overbearing stuffed shirts was not directed at any of the aforementioned persons. But I have in memory previous forum postings on the very emotional subject of F1 in which the security people at the circuit have been known to push their weight about. Of course, as I've never been to the event, I am in no position to comment and certainly, and unreservedly withdraw any perceived references that I never actually made regarding volunteer officials of all kinds.
However, I will say, based on postings both in the marshals forum as well as the F1 forum, that certain people really do need to lighten up. Arguably this now includes me so my own conclusion has just shot up my own premise, so to speak.

If you still have your programmes from the meetings then look inside to find out what the MSA permit was (International, National A or National B)

I did my first last year, and am applying again this year.
I never found anyone stuck up, but there is a lot of standing around!
When Lewis got pole this year the crowd went mental, never felt nothing like it at a track!
Hope they supply climbing frames for the Marshals camp site this year!!

hi all,
went to 1st gp this year and paid, cost us £159 each for adults tickets, cops standing and £80 for kids, 2 of.
camped at silverstone golf club not knowing they had never done it before,

we had a brilliant time all 4 days, have little faults but nothing serious.

that is what has now made me get into marshalling.

the crack and atmosphere at british gp is worth every penny.

Most "clubbie" events will be national B...things like the BTCC have a portions of International, Nat A and Nat B.

Yup that's fine.

edited to add: F3/GT are international, as are DTM, WTCC. LMS. SCSA is Nat A.

Thanks for everyones help just the last bit of info I need is what was the organizing club for the Grand Prix Masters event that was held at Donington at the begining of May.
It was the 1st of the 2 F1 events that were held at Donny in May the 2nd was GP Live. I have a feeling it was HSCC but not 100%

i think the gp masters was BARC
as it was barc people signing on and they had the BARC responce to under 18's marshalling.

Can any of the old hands tell me when we know if we've been selected for the GP or not. Would it be roughly a couple of weeks before the GP? Or longer?
