A large part of the field in Valencia was Spanish GT, including the Sunreds so I guess what we see this weekend in Nurburgring is more of the norm.

http://www.gtsport.es/resources/uplo...e-1-result.pdf No coverage on MotorsTV this weekend. I also couldn't find anything about the series strictly enforcing the Pro-Am concept. At least I couldn't find any reference in the Regs. But it is a shame, as you say. It would be best if they enforce it or we could have domination. The first race this weekend, though, shows this might not be the case. Last edited by AndrewF31; 1 May 2010 at 18:15. Reason: added pro-am topic |

Guess who won the 1st race at Imola?!
The championship loses alot from having 2 pros in a car. The race was very quiet with some localized battles. Kaffer spun a few laps from the end and Giammaria took the lead but he lost it on the last lap. Good to see the 2 top Porsches making a rush for the finish and taking 3rd and 4th. The first half of the race was a Ferrari benefit, being Italy and all and the course being made for the speedy Ferraris. |

There was a quite horrific accident at Imola when Marcel Tiemann crashed the Phoenix R8 hard into the wall following the start of Race 2.
Tiemann was airlifted to Bologna and later to Munich, having suffered a serious concussion and a broken cervical vertebra. Video recap of the race, including the incident: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPJs_CpWtds |

I just saw the race on MotorsTV and that was horrific. An Aston Martin just flinched to the left and Marcel was forced to move left but there was no way to avoid the wall. The car slammed into the wall (being at Imola and all, it reminded me of a very unfortunate crash there back in 1994.... but not as explosive). He then proceeded to veer across the track and take out Miguel Amaral's (Quifel ASM guy) Porsche and Matt Griffin's Ferrari.
They didn't mention anything about Marcel's condition and it's unfortunate the news you give. Hope he recovers quickly. As for the race, the pit stop 'penalties' help the race but I can't believe Pilet made that bone-headed move early in the race taking out the Toccacello/Giammaria Ferrari. The race only started 34+ minutes from the end and Kaffer lead from the start but with the pit delay Barba had too much to do and the CRS boys (Niarchos and Mullen) took the win. Narac came out 4th from the pits but ended up 12th. I don't think he's that slow so I believe Pilet's move resulted in a black flag for them. |

an nice finish for Race1 .. Gianmaria tried and to slow enough just to finish the race but with Kaffer on hot pursuit he failed with only 1 second. The extra lap was enough for Kaffer to pass but Gianmaria didn't make it easy.
watching race 2 now .. violent accident .. hope he recovers fully |

Marcel Tiemann has been put in an artificial coma as his head injuries seem to be worse than "just" a concussion.

Best wishes to Marcel Tiemann for a quick recovery. I have seen him drive on our side of the pond and he is very impressive.

The same news item briefly mentions the crash at Brno but only that Giorgio Bartocci is in serious but stable condition. |

That is good news. Hopefully we will see him next year at the Nurburgring in his trusty Manthey Porsche.
Best of luck to Marcel. |

Well, if there was one good thing to report in race 2, besides CRS getting the win after the season's struggles, is that it looks like the Aston Vantage got 2nd!!!! Great job to both teams.
Also, the driver who punted Marcel is under alot of heat, so do you all think he deserves it or not? |
