I think that the Spa format has been decided on the basis that the British GT races will be run concurrently with the European GT4 races.

3. Jones Brothers replacing the Ascari with a Mercedes SLS (6.3 Litres!)
4. Pair of Audi R8s (hopefully they'll do more than the opening round this year)

Shaping up well...

Think Trackspeed have confirmed Ashburn in one and said it's likely to be two-cars, which is great if it comes off.

One of Autosport or MN reckoned that Hector Lester was confirmed to be be back again, which is the best news, as it means another year of Allan Simonsen.

Hopefully we'll get a decent GT4/G4 field next season as well.

I wholeheartedly agree. Watching a driver of his quality, slowly but surely, catching up with the lead cars is (IMHO) the best part of endurance/GT racing.
The longer format for 2011 should provide plenty of opportunities.

I've already put the Snetterton 3 hour race in my diary (Oulton Park is a tad too far...) - let's hope the MotorsTV coverage continues as it is first class & Diana Binks isn't too shabby

DSC reported that Ashburn was tending positively but not confirmed about a week ago, I think. 2 cars did seem to be the plan; maybe Phillip Walker might be interested in full-time this year?

Shame the Ascari has gone, really liked the look of that car. Merc SLS is a pretty decent replacement though!

Seems a little odd to be running two different cars - maybe trying to split one's luck across the breadth of performance balancing? The Ascari would make sense as a used purchase, but they mention it is in build in Spain so I guess it's not an ex-Preci-Spark or Rhino's car.

A short piece about British GT in DSC's Autosport International news coverage includes an interesting comment:

'it was suggested that we would "almost certainly" see at least one more new marque to the championship in 2011; and that it would be a significant one.'

A really wild guess- McLaren? DSC's last report on the McLaren GT3 project did suggest that CRS might be competing in a 'limited number of European GT races in 2011'. Maybe a couple of British GT appearances to get some race mileage on the car and showcase it to potential customers for 2012

Of the existing GT3 cars seen in Europe last year, by my reckoning the only ones we haven't seen in British GT are the Corvette, Z4 and Alpina. Any of these on the radar?
