Shouldn't we add sand racing at Southport ? Theses were "real" races pre war, not speed trials. I'm not sure about other places like Saltburn ans Redcar. Also, some of the early sea front events like Bexhill and Brighton had side-by-side starts / first across the line goes through to the next round events which, I guess, are strickly speaking races too !

These are mentioned in Richard Young's post,RAP.Whether they count depends what you are talking about I supose.None of this is relevant to the title of this thread-RECENTLY lost. But as someone mentioned the book 'Motor Racing Circuits in England-Then & Now' I reckon one called 'MRC of the rest of the British Isles'should include all of Ireland-Athy goes back to when there was a united Ireland!
I had not thought about sand racing-saw some in Jersey -St.Ouen? when I was there in the 80s.Two at a time as used to be the form in Brighton, would now be called drag racing-which is another ball game.

NO! Different, yes; less, no. I think you'll find that many of the circuits used only for bikes are considered too narrow to race cars.

Oops. Should have re read Richard's posting. With regards to Brighton - yes it's the same in principle although the trem Drag racing was not yet invented in 1905!

Australian Tracks:

Amaroo Park - torn down for a housing development
Lakeside
Warwick Farm - hosted F1 races in the 1960s
There was a track up in Surfers Paradise that hosted bike racing that went belly-up

Missing to the list are Clady and Cluntoe in Northern Ireland. You might like to take a look at http://www.silhouet.com/motorsport/tracks/gb.html - also includes some beach venues.
