I had to laugh at the person in Motosport News on the letters page who had a go at Vauxhall for not keeping O'Neill sign on. And believed that 'they should now at least assist him in finding a competitive BTCC drive for the coming season.'
Err, why? What do Vauxhall owe him? He was only on a one year contract after the Egg drive ended, so his time was up. If he didn't have the funding the team needed to carry on, then he doesn't get a drive, that's racing. There are loads of drivers in the same situation.

well it is up to Owy to find him self a drive really its got nothing to do with Vauxhall.
he may as well go back to where he started in the production class. but now they don't exist any more. so what can he do apart from an indpentents team drive.

Rob Huff must be a happy bunny being paid £30k to race in a works car this year...that must be like winning the lottery after a multiple week rollover..

I doubt if any of the drivers other than Muller/Thommo/Reid got paid more than what Huff will this year.

One thing that's worrying me about Huff is where does he end up next year? All his hard work with Seat will be left to this years Cupra winner.

1. Oh yes, Huffy is happy!

2. I doubt you'd get Muller for that - although the halcion days are gone, he's a LOT more expensive than that.

3. Who says its Huffy that'll get replaced by this year's winner - could be Plato... Or one of them could go to the ETCC team, or even to another VW subsidiary team. The possibilities are endless.

Is Jason Plato only on a one year contract with Seat then ?

And are you hinting at something in no. 3 too ?

That is a very large amount of dosh to come ninth!
Imagine what that money could have done for a genuine British up and coming driver with talent. Oh well... that is BTCC in the 21st centuary I suppose.

No hints as I have absolutely no idea about JPs contract. All I was hinting at is that it shouldn't be seen as a foregone conclusion that Huffy would automatically be out of a drive next year just because the winner of this year's Seat Cupra Cup will get a drive - that's all!

Seat could always expand to 3 cars...
Let's get this year on it's way before thinking of 2005

My predictions for remaining seats include. Alan Morrison to take second Arena drive. Possibly Gareth Howell or Paul O'Neill to goto Team Dynamics. But beyond that it might be a bit like a juggling act to see which ball lands in which hand. Some unlikely pairings could make it quite interesting.
