Although some of them, Paffett and Green the key ones, have used the McLaren connection to establish close links with Mercedes, which has led to works drives for them... even if it has taken their careers in a different direction to their original aim. I suppose it depends if they would prefer to take the cash and do DTM or struggle on their own in the hope of doing F1. |

I've always felt that winning the award has helped Darren Turner achieve more than he might otherwise have done, but Alex Lloyd seems to have drawn the short straw. Even being nominated for A1GP Team GBR hasn't done him any favours yet.
I'd like to see Joey win it for several reasons, but he may be just too much of laid-back surfing dude by nature. Bet he's better at that than Dan Clarke. |

Joey definitely has the surfer image, which is where Dan Clarke falls down.
Perhaps if Dan were to grow his hair, and bleach it... ...to give Dan credit, he does seem to be into the whole surfing lifestyle. I wonder what the waves are like off Macau? |

Pretty poor, to be honest, but then I wouldn't want to go near the water there - it's disgusting! Macau may be a great place, but it's not because of the golden beaches and crystal clear water...

Overall, I would say, good PR aside, winning this award has little to no affect on a driver's ability to progress their career beyond where they would have ended up anyway - but it's nice to recognise true talent - and I think most agree that they usually pick the right winner. This year IMHO we have some slim pickings though. My money is on Jarvis. |

Right, my money's in. (I mean that literally) I've got £40 running on Olli Jarvis.

He reckons either Joey Foster, Duncan Tappy or James Jakes.
I don't have any idea what he'll do with £60 - spend it on something he'll use once then chuck it! |

i've spent 5 minutes trying, and i can't seem to come up with a reply to that...
however, joey foster seems to be the peoples champion at the moment, with a heroic 7 votes, followed by oli jarvis on 5. |

I think Tandy did an exceptional job.
Ministox background can't hurt - Derek Warwick started on the short ovals - and he has to work for a living. If the prize got him a couple of tests and a race in F3 with adecent team I think he might surprise a few people. |
