Looks like a kind of modern take on the GTP prototypes of old.

At first glance, it's an improvement, but nothing magical. Only changes I can see is that they pushed the nose out, smoothed the curve on it a bit, raised the headlights up a little and raised the wheel arches in the back.
And, brand new. |

I'll 2nd that.
I don't want to draw any conclusions from an odd below 3/4 view drawing. Drawings like this don't often capture the true essence of a car in my opinion. So as far as we know, this is one of two styles that will exist next year. this one and the covette one. |

Didn't make me think of a Mosler... I don't really see it in terms of the aesthetics...
Roof is still a wee bit too tall for me, I'm not certain it is an improvement on the current car. It certainly addressed some of the fans' concerns with the greenhouse, but I'll need to see it in the flesh. I think I had my hopes up a little too high. With proper paint schemes, not in computer graphic form and at different angles it should look better. Add to that the Corvette-themed bodywork and hopefully in future more manufacturer-themed bodywork it will look even better. Chris |

To me, the DPG3 looks a bit boring. But maybe I expected to much from that. Still, I'll keep waiting till I see some "live" pictures of it.

Marshall Pruett and all the early concept arts made it sound like a more drastic improvement... but this just looks blah. Which I guess is still an improvement over the current DP, you know the one that causes instant vomiting.

From the other front-view out there the width at the top of the windscreen was cut by one-third (i.e. down to two-thirds of original).

There's a front projection with new overlaid on old on Bill Riley's FB page, or so I hear. I saw it replicated at a location I can't mention here due to forum rules. The width at the top of the sidepods looks to be reduced about 15%, or just to the inside of the tires, so the sides of the greenhouse are also no longer vertical.

Like Ferrari they've had to do a fair bit of reworking of the car to fit G-A regulations, so presumably they have sufficient potential customers to make that worthwhile
Something interesting in the last sentence of that report as well, though it might be more relevant in another thread....? |

World Challenge isn't Endurance, though.

It is too bad that current R8's cant' be used in GA with modification. We may have seen a few more international teams bring their cars if that was the case.

Audi approached the ALMS about running the R8 last year, but were told only if you commit to running the LMP. #winning #atleastwearegreen

You'd think the ALMS is backed into a corner if Audi is saying it in their press releases and they have taken the steps to add the car to the Grand-Am lineup.
Either way, an exciting prospect to get the Grand-Am GT class on the level, or close to the level of ALMS GT. Chris |

Was that to open GTC up to other GT3 cars, or a possible GT (GT2/GTE) programme? Either way, it has to be one of ALMS's dumber decisions....

Yet it's the same decision the LMS has made even with the benefit of hindsight.

Yeah, and yet Audi keep hinting they want to be in the ALMS. Just accept that the funding for a prototype program may not happen, at least you get a diversified and interesting GTC class - perhaps with Ferrari 458s too.
In fact, with Grand-Am GARRAfying the 458, R8 and likely the Z4, and with GTC already being relatively close to GAGT in terms of lap times, why not take what Grand-Am is doing as a favor and have (effectively) one unified American GT class where competitors can use the same equipment across a season doing Daytona, Sebring, Watkins, Road America (4 Hours), Laguna Seca (6 Hours), and Petit? Seems good for entrants and championships (and manufacturers) alike. No wait, that seems to sensible. Chris |
