Marshall Pruett saying that KANSAS is back on the USCC schedule with a headline PC Class race? huh

TUSCC officials must have heard us.
Latest announcement on car caps for events. http://www.grand-am.com/News/GA_News...mpionship.aspx Maybe someone can summarise as reading that leaves my head spinning. Class alterations too on the calendar. Didn't think it could get any more confusing but there you go. |

Yeah, this whole hodgepodge just seems like a mess to sort out.
Kansas, in June? Really? So, I take it that not only can Indy not really host one of the marquee events anymore, but it's more heavily limited than any of the other rounds with all classes taking part. In that case, maybe it can be swapped out for Mid Ohio sooner rather than later. |

Really? 19 (GT) grid fillers at every round? Bye bye international guest entries...

Gee, 'cause it was so straightforward before, they needed to make sure a little confusion was injected...
PCs and nothing else at Kansas, PCs gone from Mosport and Detroit. Car count caps have a certain sense to them, but let's face it, nobody's actually going to utilize the higher caps for some of the lesser classes in their feature races. Where would another 7 GTLM cars suddenly appear from just to try and win overall at VIR? We assume they won't actually keep a cap of 10 PC cars at Kansas or VIR if there are more available either. Ah well, we shall see what transpires in the end. |

How are we possibly supposed to keep up with who is racing where and who isn't? This is way too confusing for me to care to even bother following.

Just going by recent history, not all that many European teams were actually interested in doing races in North America. And really, what would rent-a-ride-operations like Greaves or Boutsen really bring to the series? There should be two slots for AMR in GTLM and that's the only real quality guest entry I could really think of. Pro/Am P2 teams from ELMS or WEC would have been mere also-rans anyway against the likes of Ganassi or Taylor (assuming the BoP between DP and P2 works out)... |

There does still seem to be a chance for a couple of big GT entries at Sebring, with outside shots for Daytona and Petit.
One other factor, which I'm not sure is all that significant - is that Kansas clashes with Le Mans scrutineering. Just means that once again there will be a few guys missing from the photos. |

It will be interesting to see what happens with Kansas for some of the pro drivers who "should" be at LM. Choices...

The only drivers that have done all races in PC this year are:
I could see it being a problem for maybe Marcelli and Nunez, but I am not even sure about those two. |

with 20 to 22 P cars on the potential list already,..... the 19 car limit should make things interesting.
you'd assume that after full season entries get precedence, that a NAEC entry would then be accepted,... then one-off,.... Looks to me that they have 19 entries for GTD already, and they are not willing to put anyone on the hook,....... I could imagine limiting some entries based on points scored,..... but they seem to be taking the little league route (everyone gets a participation trophy). |

Im totally confused and the races haven't even started yet. Id rather see 1 car per team rather than 2 Whelan/Wayne Taylor/Ganassi/Action Express DP cars and same thing in the GTD class. Im really not looking forward to this, what a mess this has become. The only thing I see is maybe more teams = more entry fees and maybe some more prize money to give back to these teams |

I don't think USCC has to affect any driver with regards to LM. Even after Detroit they can get a red-eye to be there in time for test day and do their laps. |

Only 10 PC cars for their stand alone races at Kansas and VIR? Or will they be joined in the same race by the Imsa Lites? That should add 15-20 of those little cars. 2x 45 min. races then I reckon.

Also, Petit will have 7 more cars allowed than the maximum allowed this year. This all sounds confusing at first, but I think this is actually a decent attempt by the series to keep things under control. I would like to see how they propose to choose cars if there are more applications then spots. |

I don't think anybody will buy a PC car just for Kansas and VIR...

Anyone know what the criteria would be in choosing between potential full season entries once the cap is reached?
I'm sure there will be some scrambling now among teams who were on the fence. It might actually be easier to claim a GTLM entry right now than a GTD one. Providing you've got the cash. |

I'm cool with this revised schedule and car count regs personally. First,
There will only be 7 races where GTLM and LMPC will be on the track at the same time now, so that debate can be alleviated slightly. Euro P2 teams being turned away does not bother me. It did bother that there was potential for GTLM teams to be turned away but that is less of a concern to me know with a cap at 12 there just might be room for Aston Martin and AF Corse now unless any new full time GTLM teams show up which is good too |

My thoughts:
Detroit is going to be a traffic jam! Especially with the fastest and slowest class on the same track. Is Watkins Glen big enough for 60 cars? Is Mosport big enough for 50 cars? Why not combine PC with the GTs at VIR, it's not like 19 GTLMs are going to show up. I like the schedule and I'll watch 13/15 of these races! |

IMO, Any full season GTLM entries should be given priority. It's a good thing, to give teams some incentive to step up to the pro class.
