Better to have manufacturer specific stuff rather than makes giving up or costs through the roof and past the chimney silhouettes.

Well, I know van Lagen can only win here. If he is last, it's expected, so nobody will blame him, and in the meantime he travels around the world with some guys who apparantly like him very much. In the meantime he earns so much money that he can compete in one of the most exiting and highly rated series in the world. And if he beats anyone, he is the star of the race. I wouldn't mind doing that.

Yeah, Van Lagen is a bit of an unknown quantity for me (and so is Shapovalov, I don't follow WTCC as much as I follow BTCC), but his CV shows that he isn't useless. I expect a few points, but a podium would be a great season for them.

Even points, if it is in a "normal" race would be a great achievement.

No way Shapovalov will be better than van Lagen. Van Lagen nows Shapovalov because he had given him racinglessons. Van Lagen is a professional driver, Shapovalov an amateur, hopefully a decent one.

I should have written: "IIRC N.Tech announced they will not enter Brazil and Mexico". Can't find the article, so probably I was wrong. My apologies. |

I was interested to hear RML's Mark Busfield saying that Chevrolet had decided to stay with petrol engines, because they think that over the whole season, the petrol package will be as good as / better than a diesel.
Now, since the Chevrolet engine is (I believe) basically a GM Family Two engine, as launched in 1982/3 in the first FWD Astras and Cavaliers and has since won countless touring car races in Cavaliers and Asconas (with 'normal' AND reversed heads!) there is a diesel version - is it still doing service in the GM ranges?? Sure, with the altitude in Mexico and Brazil, they probably expect to have their asses handed to them on a plate but they do like to engineer their way to wins at RML and if they think there's little mileage in putting an oil-burner in a Lacetti, you can bet they're not just hoping! BMW's oil-fired stove was apparently 0.7secs quicker out of the box... Wonder whether that is a representative time with a completely legal car or a bargaining position being engineered? BMW sell loads of diesels but would Mario Thiessen really want diesel 3-series tourers? If they could rein in the SEAT's apparently unrestricted power supply, then probably not... Wonder how Hans Stuck would like a nice quiet diesel instead of a howling BMW 'four' (or better) 'six' under the bonnet? Need we even ask??? |

Indeed, there will be 3 sister Hondas racing this year. 2 in STCC and 1 in WTCC. The 1 Honda in last years STCC btw performed really well but, mostly due to really poor luck, never really scored well. So with 2 more cars driven by 2 more proven good drivers I expect to see Honda rocking the boat in both their respective championships.

In STCC the Honda is fast but unreliable.
That plus poor pitstops have stopped the Honda-team from scoring good results. |

So N-Tech's car is a used 3 year old chassis. How brilliant.

Have they announced that they will use that chassis in WTCC, and not only for testing?
Sounds unlikely that Honda Team Sweden gets a brand new chassis but not Thompson for WTCC. |
