And he won't be replacing any of the drivers for the test weekend, he'll be just doing his 10 rookie laps in one of the three cars at a certain point. Audi have entered their new reserve driver as a fourth driver in each car as well, so now that the test day is back in, both teams can have their reserve drivers ready and qualified.

Surely you aren't implying that Ekstrøm does not? I'm sure both teams find themselves somewhat restricted in selecting reserve drivers since the driver must not have any conflicting obligations; a driver is highly unlikely to take a major hit in their main championship for the slim chance of racing a factory car at LM. Vernay has form in what he's raced before so he's not a bad choice.

Today Audi revealed that the R18 gearbox "has a high amount of carbon-fiber composite material".
I had a look at the pictures that Marshall Pruett toke of the 908 in Sebring. It seems that the 908 gearbox casing is also partially made from carbon fibre: http://dlstatic.speedtv.com/imageser...14wg/1000x.jpg http://dlstatic.speedtv.com/imageser...4ev0/1000x.jpg The solution resembles the Dome S102 gearbox: http://www.endurance-info.com/2008_L...zuka_S102h.JPG |

While looking at the pictures, I also noticed that Peugeot has adopted the "zero keel" layout for the front suspension:
http://dlstatic.speedtv.com/imageser...l3a9/1000x.jpg Remember that this layout was also used on the Acura ARX-02a (see here), the Embassy WF01 (see here) and the Audi R15 (see here). |

The 908's bellhousing is made out of carbon. The gearcase is metal. Of course this isn't the first time someone has used carbon in the bellhousing: http://www.mulsannescorner.com/Porsc...ng2008-MF1.jpg But it would appear this is the first time the entire (though correct me if I'm wrong please) bellhousing is made this way in a LMP. Even the Dome S102's bellhousing was only carbon on the top half, the metallic gearcase extended underneath the carbon bit: http://www.mulsannescorner.com/DomeS102-HS4.jpg |

I also like this version a bit more, especially because they went to NACA ducts for the rear brake cooling.
However, I still prefer the looks of the Dome S102 or the Toyota GT-One. Last edited by gwyllion; 22 Apr 2011 at 13:28. |

Stunning, there's quite a big difference to the old 908 after the recent update now.

I like it much better too, even though they copied Audi's lower rear wing position and headlights in a way Amazing how they all of the sudden grew the headlights!

Bigger or not, but completely different design of the front fenders and lights, that seem to be mainly LED now. It's more noticeable on Monza testing pics.

In this picture ducts near the lights are pretty visible, like the r18. |

Sorry, I did not make myself clear. The end plates are no longer connected to the bodywork, as was the case in the Monza test.
