1961 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Back to team news, John Dagys is reporting that Dragonspeed Mercedes is considering coming to Bathurst if Daytona deal can't be done.

Elton Julian says he's lured by the new international series Bathurst is now part of.

http://sportscar365.com/gt/dragonspe...-mercedes-sls/

And, not quite sure what to make of this, Max Papis is looking for a drive in the 6 hour according to the driver board. Mixed up the events maybe...

No surprise seeing as though Mok had already told Reload I believe that he was selling the 458 to buy a 488 and so wouldn't make it to the Mount. I'll miss the shiny dragon livery . Hopefully they return with the 488 in 2017.

Highly unlikely that any of the local Camaro's or Bentley will now be entered and you would have to say that they have been nothing but total failures down under ?

Such a shame, I love the sound of those Camaros but it seems they are not competitive.

I think it's a good sign that the GT3 cars have become a little too much aero dependant

Excellent, I've always wanted to see the bloody Challenger 2 tank in action on a racetrack.

Gush's comment " the Nissan seemed to find some power it didn't have before" appears to be a crack at Nissan and I'm sure that many of us are still wondering how it blew past the Bentley up Mountain Straight so easily ?

Bentley Bathurst announcement here on Friday the 13th - Bathurst 2016 will be 13 years since Bentley last won Le Mans. Still, bet they don't run with car number 13

It has the most power of any GT3 car around at the moment. Bentley have built a fine chassis and I reckon they have sorted out the suspension to a better degree than Nissan, but as a result [of BoP] they must be down on power to the GT-R which must look unusual to a lot of people when they have a 4L turbo V8 under the bonnet. We saw it throughout Blancpain as well, though much more in BES than BSS so it's now as if Nissan turned up the boost exclusively for the last three laps.

Leaving that behind, three Bentleys on the mountain would be glorious. Abril for Premat looks like the obvious (mandatory) change but apart from that we should expect the same driver lineups.

Bentley's confirmation of a 2 car factory assault for the second year in a row is a great sign for the event. With factory representation from m sport and phoenix i imagine nissan wont be far behind, it could just be a matter of them finding the funding to run a second australian drivers car before they
make an announcement.

With so many strong australian entries and now m sport with 2 cars coming here to win im confident that 2016 will be another epic race.

Fresher tyres and an opportunistic driver had more to do with it. The Bentley was doing it's best road block impersonation for many laps beforehand and none of them had shown any real pace all day. I don't see why we need conspiracy theories to explain a fairly obvious happening.

Blast from the past, guess what re-appeared at Phillip Island today?
The sexiest production car ever to contest the 12 hour!
IMO even sexier than Larry's Lotus and Wayne's Honda.
Last raced Bathurst 12 hour 2010 the year of the tree and fog and rain and a BMW victory.
And the only time a wagon has finished on the podium.

Im surprised there has been so little chat since one of the biggest teams in gt racing has confirmed a 2 car effort. Now for nissan to confirm either a single or 2 car effort and a couple of international teams to confirm their intentions and we will have a race of the same calibre as last year 😀

The Bentley's returning is a huge deal and it might just be that we've been spoilt for great entries over the last couple of years as to why we are so ho hum about it this time around.
Just hoping that it's the calm before the storm as far as International entries go as it could be concerning to some that the latest news includes "Maranello nearly ready to name all of their drivers" and "US team to return if their unsuccessful in gaining entry to their preferred series".
Add a Nissan or 2 and Craft Bamboo and I'm pretty happy.
Hoping that Erebus has an International drivers line up in 1 of their cars, but not confident of that happening.
Big fan of Maxi Buhk, so HTP coming down would be awesome, but a spot in 1 of the M-Sport Bentley's is most likely.
Without getting ahead of things, 2017 with the new Merc, Fezza and BMW will be awesome.

I'm looking forward to it but we still have people slinging mud and claiming that V8Supercar Events has gouged people and made all the international teams stay away...

The likelyhood of HTP bringing Bentleys down under just took a massive dive.

Wow that's a massive surprise about Bentley and HTP parting ways especially after they won the Blancpain Sprint title.
