As long as Ed Brown doesn't end up in a P1 car. I imagine he's a lovely guy, but he's often slower than GTE cars in the P2.

I fear that he wouldn't be fast enough to be safe. At COTA, he couldn't keep the tyre temperatures high enough to keep the car on the road. Sub GTE-Am laptimes and silly spins were occurring.
I've got a lot of respect for Ed. He's made his money and chosen to spend it in the sport we love. Most of us would do the same in his position. But P2 is a bit much for his abilities, and P1 is well out of reach. Hopefully Nissan fund it enough that ESM don't have to supply the drivers. |

Just checked. Apparently he was Silver in 2016, but is Bronze for 2017. So that solves that.
Shows how messed up the driver rankings are. Pierre Thiriet and Ed Brown were the same ranking in 2016. |

Not a rumour, but McLaren have revealed some details of the 650S replacement ahead of its unveiling at the Geneva motor show in March.

This is the start of a rumour! No doubt they will replace the current GT3 with an updated model based on this announcement. Maybe to test in late 17, 18 to launch in 19? I'd figure that'd tie into a GTE launch too? Just guessing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I don't know. It's unclear whether this engine is using fuel restrictor or is using air restrictor.
However, this engine is for customer use, not exclusive for works-car use. So it will be reasonable price than current NRE engine. |

Autosport web reports TRD-BIZ001 engine.
http://www.as-web.jp/domestic/83225?all This engine doesn't assume a specific category for use. Sale to engine tuner is assumed. This engine may be modified and can be resale freely. Small racing car constructor can use this engine. Of course, tuning car also can be used this engine. Very interesting plan. Last edited by Japanese Samurai; 14 Jan 2017 at 13:14. |

Interesting that they're leaving the tune up to the consumer. I'd like to see it in the back of a prototype, even a gt300!

Probably not the best place to put this, but Memo Gidley has been cleared to race again by his doctors as of last month.

Hope he can find a ride if not at Daytona at least by Sebring . A great TALENT should not be on the sidelines .

DSC are reporting that Greaves will sit out the 2017 season, no mention of what's happening with the Krohn car though.

SMP tweeted earlier that they (still) intend to make an lmp1 with dallara but they don't have an engine. Motorsport.com talked briefly about it in a story on Mikhail Aleshin's Indy drive.

I might have missed this, but MWM are discussing an Autosprint (Italian) report of a probable switch away from Ferrari (to Porsche?) for Gimi Bruni, albeit he is still under contract for the rest of this season.
If true, this sounds awfully familiar to the situation Fred Makowecki found himself in in his last days at AMR... |

Porsche have one seat left unconfirmed, and I bet Bruni would fancy his chances of getting an LMP1 drive at some point |

I have to say it seems quite likely that Bruni will leave Ferrari. He hasn't been around for a couple of races now, including at Daytona, where all of their AF Corse WEC drivers were present except for Bruni.

They seem to have the most sensible approach to P1 privateer in recent years, so I rate chances of seeing at least a few fairly high. Maybe not 5-10 next year though If a couple run well in 18, maybe we will see more in 19 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
