now all these new changes to the car has increased the cost of the car of 15/20% bringing the budget for one season to 700.000 euro/1 mln of euro!!

i think that in this period was not at all the moment to make all these change specially because the wtcc surived in last years thanks to privaters.

look at how many good drivers we have lost from last to this year: NASH, BASSENG, MCDOWALL, NIYKIAER, D'ASTE and even the asian drivers that i supposed had the bigger budget like OYOUNG and NG left the series.

Yep, but the same thing happened in the 80's and 90's.

That's correct, but the current rule change is also because of the general critique that the cars were too tame to deserve the "World Championship" status. Something I can relate too.

While that is true I'm sure they'll be back once 'second-hand' cars start to become availabe. And if not their place will be taken by others of the same stature.

even if general critique asked for some change i dont think it was necessary to develop and upgrade the power of the car!! it was already 330 hp which is already a good power. the oldest car of supertouring were beautifull and yet they had nearly 300 hp!
this one is the realt thing that i cant accept and understand!! if the organizer said ok we must do some change to the aereodinamic package, to the weight, to the tyres and to the front and rear wings probably we would have still on the grid the bmw 320 and seat leon!!

And whats the point of a World Championship with second hand cars, old models of the BMW and Seat that aren't sold anymore?

It's better to have 16 high-quality cars than to have 32 run-down beaters.

Actually, I've thought it will look worse, but I have to say this Lada is quite good. Anyway the 2015 car (should be Lada Vesta) should look much better

Can't wait to see the livery of that Lada. I've been a bit sceptical about the high level of aero on the TC1 cars, and I hope they don't evolve into using those DTM style flaps for extra aero.

But if the aero stays as it is and the racing proves to be good, I think this will be a very good set of regulations. TC1 has made it cool to compete in touring cars again, they got 'the looks' (reminds me a bit of the 70's Group 5 touring cars) and they sure sounds great. Stiff and firm pure racing chassis, small-displacement high revving turbo engines with a bit of anti lag system, tight touring car action. Mmm... Really looking forward to the season opener.

Vents to let the air out, otherwise it acts as a parachute effectively.

wiechers out of wtcc 2014.

we are going always more to a championship with 16 tc1 plus 2 or 3 tc2. The hope is that in 2015 there will be available more tc1 cars to allow at other indipendent teams to return in the series.

Wiechers should do ETCC instead.
And i hope we see a lot of these cars in ETCC, so ETCC can become a very good championship too!

I actually think the championship would be perfectly fine with its current 16 TC1 cars. TC2's wouldn't add anything at all.

Could be interesting season with new regulations but I'm still afraid of DTM style. One thing that make me hope is a possibility to see new cars in 2015, may be WTCC can become a little bit as BTCC - I mean privaters making new models in TC1 class.

but Lotti and his followers did s**k it up to the manufacturers and that privateers are not really that important, Alan Gow in the BTCC has gone the opposite route encouraging and supporting the privateers

You mean like RML is already doing with the new TC1 Cruze. Chevrolet need to give approval before the FIA will homologate the car, but other than that it's a privately funded project.

The need for manufacturer approval and the enormous costs involved mean you are unlikely to see many more privateer cars though.

That is one crazy wide Lada, I want to see if someone can stick a cup of coffee on the arches and not fall off.

Hope the team finally get on the podium this year. It's been a long time coming.
