The factory that produces the race tyres in Birmingham is closing in September as the landlords have sold the lease to Jaguar Land Rover. In the time scale no substitute location in the UK is available, so production will be moved abroad. Therefore no development tyres for GTE Pro will be available this year. All a bit of a mess. At least that is my understanding of the circumstances. |

Yet the ACO result sheet for Silverstone shows them on Dunlop... Then again it wouldn't been the first mistake they've done this year on that front Says Michelin here though |

Dunlop has gone from a regular overall winner to almost nothing, in the eighties I used to have a big poster from Dunlop saying multiple times winner at Le Mans. The car printed on it was the Newman Porsche me thinks.

AF Corse scrutineering takes 90 minutes, heh... plus their assisted 8star & SMP to boost that number even further
If only Pecom was there to make the armada even more gargantuan |

Well, Dunlop is jointly owned by Goodyear and Sumitomo. And it's been known for a while that Goodyear has scaled back in motorsports, especially compared to about 20 years ago where it seemed like they were everywhere--and winning everywhere.
OT, but there's even been talks--both in 2005/06 and now that Michelin may be looking to increase their involvement with NASCAR. OT, but it does relate to Goodyear/Dunlop's partnership. |

Looking back 5 years ago in 2009, you had 41 Michelins (P1, P2, GT1, GT2), 11 Dunlops (P2, GT1, GT2), 1 Yokohama (GT1), 1 Pirelli (GT2) and 1 Hankook (GT2) in 55 entries.
Looking back 10 years ago in 2004, you had 25 Michelins (P1, P2, GTS, GT), 14 Dunlops (P1, GT), 5 Yokohamas (P1, GT), 3 Pirellis (P2, GTS) and 1 Goodyear (P1) in 48 entries. Looking back 15 years ago in 1999, you had 20 Michelins (P, GTP, GTS), 6 Dunlops (P, GTS), 4 Yokohamas (P, GTS), 10 Pirellis (P, GTS, GT), 7 Bridgestones (P, GTP) and 1 Goodyear (P) in 48 entries. Looking back 20 years ago in 1994, you had 14 Michelins (P1, P2, GT1, GT2), 11 Dunlops (P1, GT1, GT2, GTS), 6 Yokohamas (GT2, GTS), 9 Pirellis (P2, GT1, GT2) and 8 Goodyears (P1, GT1, GT2) in 48 entries. This year you have 45 Michelins (P1, P2, GTE-PRO, GTE-AM, G56) and 11 Dunlops (P2) in 56 entries. Hmm yes. |

Hasn't Dunlop also closed down a factory that produced racetyres in the UK?
That might also be a reason for not being that active anymore, the loss of capacity to develop and produce tires. |

Dunlop Motorsport will move the race car tires to Germany soon. While they move, they loose capacity. Dunlop Motorsport should be back to full capacity next year

So, any more info regarding the remaining race seats?
And has anyone seen the garage allocation for this year yet? |

Not a driver announcement but a bit of news from OAK Racing Team Asia who will apparently run an all-Chinese line-up at Le Mans.
http://sportscar365.com/lemans/asian...gram-launched/ Plenty of people in China but significantly less world-class drivers. First guy that springs to mind for the third driver is Cong Fu Cheng. |

Signatech Oreca-Nissan is switching to Dunlops so we are back to 12 Dunlops against 44 Michelins again
http://sportscar365.com/lemans/elms/...der-of-season/ I'll have to upgrade my graph on that other thread later |

Like the look of that Ligier in that livery, and I've always liked the sound of that HPD V6, though I seem to be in a minority with that one.
Looking forward to see it. |
