Laps times don't mean a hell of a lot on their own, but a 1.31.65 ain't quick! Those guys need to demonstrate, and the sooner the better, that they have a better car than the old one. They need to communicate where they are at with the cars development, otherwise people will speculate (already happening) and decide for themselves IMHO. |

http://www.canterburycarclub.co.nz/T...%20Records.php Corvette in 2003 1:21:257 That is VERY fast for a 1250kg car. Speed really is part of the appeal. The faster you go the more energy there is to dissipate. And seeing a field of quality drivers do that is exciting. New Zealand produces a lot of capable drivers and more than our fair share of seriously good drivers. Brilliant cars without good drivers is a bit dull (GT1, OSCA etc) The cars are big ,noisey and shiny but commentary hyping how amazing X driver is to be out front leaves me cold. Don't get me wrong, its all part of the show and I do like the variety it just isn't enough. People watching the sport ( even people really close to the sport who should know better ) seem to think that it is awash with money. That is not true. NZV8 has produced some really good racing over the years. The top guys managed to hustle those old piles of poo around faster than anyone thought possible. But they're old and too expensive to run. I'm looking forward to seeing teams eke every last bit of performance out of the new cars. Solid prep will be necessary but the racing really will happen on the day at the track. Hopefully the management team will be able to exert some influence and get decent commentary. Educate your viewers. Focus on families. Hold it up as an intelligent, highly competitive team sport. |

Or maybe they need to wait for funds to clear etc before they are sure.
I doubt a top Level V8 driver will contest the series |

Mate that a bit of a cheap shot, dont you think? I dont know the Mac, but i got admire what he has done since he set up his own team. Strange you would think its all about money how about milage like on 18" rubber for a start, yep i am sure a star will have his hand out, and so he should, but stars can also attract good sponsors to help out.
