I don't think they lucked out? I think they went green with a safety car gap between them. Which they maintained under green. So when the safety cars are deployed again, the 2nd place car finds itself behind a different safety car due to the gap

If they have a 2 safety car gap now, that would be frustrating....

The first safety car. He's where he should be, just due to the safety car. The 68 Ford has just got past before the safety car. That car is 2 positions ahead right now.
