I've been a bit... um... busy lately!

This season's ended up a bit of a washout for me. Missed the Gold Cup, can't make Cestriscir this weekend, not around for the historics(?) meet on 27th Sept either, and in the US half the time in between!

I promise I'll get my gear together and be as regular as I can next season!!

Not to worry,

that's 3.5 marshals per post then!!

All we need now is Steve Caswell on the BARC rescue unit
and its game on :-))

To be honest we are looking into boosting numbers for next year with a possible new sponsor :-)
and looking into why experianced marshals are leaving.
We will keep you posted.

He did the Sunday, but did moan that it was 'only old cars'!

Maybe he's heard all of Kenny's jokes........

Oi! I'm still here you know.....

Yes I admit I was bored stiff by what I saw on the Sunday and I was only there because of a booking mixup at a hotel in Dartford, otherwise I would have been at Brands for the weekend!

Observer,

I've been told that you've changed your mind again and unapologised (if that were possible) and you are turning out tomorrow. Is that true???

I'm not apologising for apologising in the first place!

Yep!
The T.O.L. had just been fattened up again a little.....at least at Bailey Bridge.
I think tomorrow will be reminiscent of Donington, as I may find myself Obzing and flagging at the same time. Now, where can I put that brush!!

Unfortunately I can remember when these 'old cars' were the latest cutting edge technology. Still it's better than them being on a static display or gone forever.

I mean whoever heard of either Renault Dauphines or Hillman Imps racing.

I thought Bill McGovern was the Champion - George Bevan only prepared and entered the Imp.

But then how would I know? I'm just a young one!

I remember racing a Hillman Imp once.

I was in my dad's Maestro at the time. And I lost.

So your having a pop at me now thats fair enough

I'm not on the unit this weekend, but I will still be there as usual

Perhaps next year the people who schedule the various race meetings should sit down and plan them so that we don't have meeting every weekend and perhaps then "the thin orange line" might not be so thin.

Its just a thought but the majority of marshals have families or other commitments and therefore can not come to Oulton Park every week.

The problem at Oulton on Saturday wasn't, in my opinion, the fact that there may have been other meetings elsewhere, but the fact that the full circuit was used.
The organisers must have known in advance that we might struggle with marshal numbers yet still decided to run on the International configuration.
Perhaps there's something somewhere that prevented the change of track lenghth, but it would have made more sense to have run the meeting on either the Island or Fosters circuit.

It's not just a little more dangerous with so few marshals, but it's also quite boring - although I had a nice young lady to keep me company.....plus a Monkey!

I wonder how we will fare this coming Saturday on the Island Circuit with the 750mc, as I understand quite a few Oulton "Regulars" are off to Donny for the BTCC?

Who was this nice young lady ? I know of the Monkey

We have a core of marshals who attend Oulton but the numbers have dwindled over the years.

The numbers on the 30th were cause for concearn.
I did not know there were only two of you at W/Bridge.
I thought there would have been at least 3 (Obs, Flag and Incident)

Thanks for attending the meeting and looking after the Monkey.

In all fairness, the Monkey wouldn't have got a signature as he/she didn't actually do anything.
I would have expected it to at least have backed us up with fire bottles at the accident or to have picked up the debris.
It did wave to the drivers though, mostly as they were still racing!!
