Thanks to all that have replied.
Matthews Dad - From my incar footage the Civic didn't look that far into the gravel and as I only have a rear view of the Ginettas 'off track' position I posted. Dave Brand - I'm sure I'm not alone in respecting your assessment of the situation, I wasn't questioning it just asking! flying muppet - Yes it does look different from the incar video hence my post. I have marshaled in the past in the cold, snowy forests not your easy circuit stuff Westysprinter - Thats what I wanted, a response from a driver, so thanks. I hope you get the 'hole in the block' sorted for Croft! To make it plain my post wasn't meant as a criticism of anyone, sorry if it came over that way. |

I was a competitor in both races and whilst I was happy for petes civic to stay there in race 1 as you could see it from the top of the dip at cascades so had plenty of time to lift, the events of race 2 I was less so
This is not a criticism and safety must allways come first.. when I first rounded the left kink before shell after the ginetta had gone off the ginetta wasn't easily seen as it was far over to the left and not really in my eye line. the colour of the car and background gravel might also play a part in that. I was of the opinion at the time that the car was out of the way and waved yellows were sufficiant and maybe they could have been a static yellow just before the left kink to make us all aware to slow/not overtake on the run to shell, I'm sure this would have been safe and would have allowed us to continue the race unaffected. also in 16th place I lost sight of the safety car on the approach to lodge when it still had it's lights on, next thing I know I'm coming up deer leap and the race is back on, why did the lights not go off before the last corner?? steve |

Don't worry, I didn't for one moment think it was intended as a criticism. As my old granny used to say, them as don't ask don't get tell't!

no quite it was halfway round the bend (just checked my in car footage on you tube!) what I meant was before the bend to stop us making a move round the kink so we approached shell in an orderly fashion, with the flag half way round the dodgy move could have already started!

I was the civic driver and very happy watching the race from the best seat of the house. To be honest, I wanted to chuck the civic in the lake at that point!
Big Thanks to all the marshalls. Re: The ginetta incident, as a driver I would have liked to continue to race however the car was massively exposed. I think a safety car / red flag was probs the only option, just a shame it couldn't be cleared quickly enough to get some more racing in. Here's the russ swift style civic: |

i know it sounds a daft comment but so all the drivers on here are aware but iam sure you already know, all us peeps in orange are of course race fans, we wouldnt do it if we wasnt, we will always do anything to keep a race going as we all hate seeing a safety car coming out or a red flag as it spoils our fun to, nothing better than a mixed grid like your own going for it!

didn't think David Hewitson would be competing in his supra after his roll at the last meeting in the all comers . unless he had just already entered. didn't see the car but from what i heard it was a bit of a mess.
