BullMan, you missed Mosport. The 2013 Sportscar calendars here include 17 venues, not 16. Therefore, to get down to 11, SIX have to be cut.
Again, the list: 1. Austin- 3.427 miles 2. Baltimore- 2.040 miles (without chicane) 3. Barber- 2.300 miles 4. Daytona- 3.560 miles 5. Detroit- 2.385 miles (long course) 6. Indianapolis- 2.534 miles 7. Kansas- 2.370 miles 8. Laguna Seca- 2.238 miles 9. Lime Rock- 1.500 miles 10. Long Beach- 1.968 miles 11. Mid Ohio- 2.258 miles 12. Mosport- 2.459 miles 13. Road America- 4.048 miles 14. Road Atlanta- 2.540 miles 15. Sebring- 3.700 miles 16. VIRginia- 3.270 miles 17. Watkins Glen- 3.400 miles Of the alternates you mentioned, only three seem like even possibilities: 1. Mexico City- 2.747 miles 2. Miller- 4.486 miles or 3.048 miles 3. Sears Point- 2.520 miles Bernie wouldn't allow anybody to steal his thunder in the least at New Jersey (3.200 miles). The rest are simply, probably too short for a combined field: 1. Houston- 1.700 miles 2. Portland- 1.964 miles 3. St. Petersburg- 1.800 miles 4. Toronto- 1.755 miles The four that I think can be said are set in stone are Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen, and Road Atlanta. Apart from that, you could get some pretty wild swings regarding where they go next season. Andy, the San Jose course was bad in 2005, but was comprehensively fixed for 2006 and 2007. You ought to also take a look at the transformation the IMSA circuit in San Antonio underwent from 1987 to 1990. |

Fact is, they have been racing sportscars at LR for quite sometime and they've made it work in the past. Besides, every real sportcars fan wants a race at Lime Rock over any roval out there. Contracts aside, if we are not interested, we will not watch or attend. Lime Rock WILL be watched and WILL be attended, if included. |

In this situation, it's kind of too bad that the Mountain Circuit was never built at Lime Rock.

Especially on the Porsche front there seems to be about 4 possibly eligible Porsches next year. The new GT America, the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car which is what i believe currently runs in ALMS GTC, the current Grand-Am Porsche GT 911 GT3 (not sure what this car is. Is it maybe the Cup car of FIA GT3 car?) and then FIA GT3 homologated Porsche 997 GT3 R. Surely there is going to be big difficulty balancing especially if FIA GT3 cars are allowed to race which can produce lap times not far off LMGT (FIA GTE) cars? |

911 GT3 RSR (Type 997) - FIA GTE/GT2 regs 911 GT3 R (Type 997) - FIA GT3 regs 911 GT3 Cup (Type 997/991) - For porsche supercup and national porsche cups The Alms GTC car is the 911 GT3 Cup while the Grand-Am Porsche was a mix up of all 3 with Grand-Am aero? I think i have that right and the new Porsche 911 GT America is based on the new 991 shape Porsche cup car (probably with extra bits + grand-am aero)? So its essentially a replacement for the current Grand-Am GT Porsche. But what i still don't understand now is which Porsche will be eligible to compete next year, will the guys currently running Grand-Am Porsches and Porsche Cup cars need to buy new cars to compete? |

Last year you had:
Porsche 991 RSR (GTE) Porsche 997 GT3 RSR (GTE-Am) Porsche 997 GT3 R (FIA GT3) Porsche 991 GT3 Cup (Porsche Supercup) Porsche 997 GT3 Cup (ALMS GTC + various national series) Porsche 997 GT3 Grand Am Cup (Grand-Am GT) Porsche 997 GT4 (FIA GT4) Next year: Porsche 991 GT America (GTD) I'm not sure if Porsche is producing a new FIA GT3 car based on the 991 model and if the GTE is still called the 991 RSR instead of 991 GT3 RSR. |

St. Pete had a very successful few years of ALMS and IndyCar still goes there so I don't see that as being completely out of the question. Plus, the track is ultra wide going into turn 1 and wouldn't cause as many problems as Long Beach, Baltimore, or even Detroit. |

My bad on that mix-up.
As for Turn 1 at St. Petersburg, it's similar to Edmonton or Cleveland, though not quite so extremely wide on the entry. However, you might want to look back on some of the previous races. Here's IndyCar from 2011: Start- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQYpTyhtZcg Full Race- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q19CcQp5d6s Having the width on the way in, and even, in theory, at the apex, can actually be a problem in cases where there really is just the one viable line all the way through the corner. If you know you're going to be hung out if you're even just in the second lane out, you're going to try to get to that inside, best line, and this causes incidents, whether the track is 40ft or 100ft wide at that corner. |

Peter De Lorenzo is reporting that USCR will not return to Baltimore in any form.

It's going to be 11 rounds, just a matter of which current tracks remain.
