Problem is that the times from at least early in session 1 are sort of irrelevant. Unless Spa and the Ardennes weather throws a curve ball--which it can, that area having such traits--tomorrow is supposed to be dry.

It won't be until later in session 1 or session 2 (if dry) before we get any real indications as to what may happen for qualifying or the race.

Forecast for the race is sunny but cold. Problem will be having a dry practice session or possibly qualifying.

According to Audi Sport's twitter, it started raining again a few minutes ago. No improvements likely in speed from anyone until a dry line forms.

Then Porsche's Twitter says that rain stopped a few minutes ago, about 5 minutes after Audi reported light rain.

Working fine for me as Toyota make it 1-2.

Also the Porsche issue was a deliberate limp home strategy being tested by the team.

Unless it dries out quick, FP1 might be a throwaway session as Satruday is predicted to be dry. Hopefully FP2 and qualifying will be dry.

The #3 Audi did not clock very impressive lap times but the top speed looks fine for the time being: 293.5 kph compared to 288.8 kph for the fastest Porsche (#14) and 287.2 kph for the fastest Toyota (#7). The Audi #1 and #2 have good top speed as well.

This may obviously change rather dramatically if the track is dry.

I would have expected the high downforce audis to be significantly faster than all the low downforce cars in the wet - but that was not the case.

The entry list from a few dyas ago had one R1 and 1 Lola, but both R1's are there, and running in LMP1

is porsche running le mans configuration here? because that would mean audi's lm config provides higher top speed than porsche's, which might be crucial because at lm the long straights is where most of the passing is happening.
btw, where do you guys get this details from? i couldn't find chrono results at this time (and only found them for silverstone after the whole race was finished).
