Considering we don't know what setups and tyres they're using, these times are mostly irrelevant. Unless you think Armand is suddenly top 10 material

Yeah, however I think most drivers did do at least 1 "fast" lap over the 3 days, so I've got the best time of each driver here: (2016 series in brackets)
1 Nicholas Latifi (GP2) 1:48.929 2 Raffaele Marciello (GP2) 1:48.937 3 Alexander Albon (GP3) 1:49.062 4 Charles Leclerc (GP3) 1:49.092 5 Nobuharu Matsushita (GP2) 1:49.107 6 Johnny Cecotto (GP2) 1:49.141 7 Jordan King (GP2) 1:49.148 8 Oliver Rowland (GP2) 1:49.182 9 Artem Markelov (GP2) 1:49.226 10 Antonio Fuoco (GP3) 1:49.345 11 Sean Gelael (GP2) 1:49.385 12 Louis Deletraz (FV8 3.5) 1:49.414 13 Callum Ilott (F3) 1:49.421 14 Luca Ghiotto (GP2) 1:49.467 15 Nyck de Vries (GP3) 1:49.573 16 Gustav Malja (GP2) 1:49.606 17 Antonio Giovinazzi (GP2) 1:49.813 18 Alex Palou (GP3) 1:49.870 19 Sergio Sette Camara (F3) 1:49.945 20 Egor Orudzhev (FV8 3.5) 1:50.044 21 Philo Paz Armand (GP2) 1:50.187 22 Daniel Juncadella (DTM) 1:50.665 23 Chris Horer (Austrian F3) 1:50.668 24 Nabil Jeffri (GP2) 1:50.719 25 Felix Serralles (IndyLights) 1:51.302 26 Mahaveer Raghunathan (Auto GP) 1:51.800 27 Salvatore De Plano (Auto GP) 1:55.584 At least we know who is really terrible (Raghunathan and De Plano). Sad thing is, Raghunathan will probably race in GP2 next year, even though he is worse than Armand. Why would they want him???!!! |

Indy lights and Auto GP not looking too hot.
Mind you Jeffri has a full year already so Raghubathsn will probably be on the pace of him, Armand and Galael by the end if the season |

Serralles only did 4 laps in the session he set that lap. Suggests to me there were mechanical problems with his car. Kirchhofer's struggles seem to indicate a team problem, unless you think Ghiotto is suddenly 10 times the driver this year.

Goes to all that effort to put a random list of drivers together, but can't even be bothered to think of a second driver for Hilmer......

Maybe suggest you heard a driver sneeze and if you recorded it and played it back slower it almost sounded like 'Hilmer' and he would put him down as a certainty. As well as allocating him a definite seat in every other championship in those threads.

see, i don't like to attack the poster because forum rules and all that but... it would be more helpful to have a list of people who have tested for who and that kind of thing. actual information...

In and out of the forums for months, so just pop in from time to time, as to much work... But I seem to remember, we used to have a "system" where you paste/build entry/test/fantasy list in a way of a table with number of rows. It was great as the first poster in a thread just built it, and you didn't have to look no further, the table was always updated with potential names/teams. I believe I saw it in Supercars or BTCC area?! Wouldn't be a bad idea IMO. It's easier to come back, other than going through 500 pages of BTCC 2017 discussion to find names.......

Plus as a mod I want to see discussion not just lists....
So I am actually going to say no more lists to be published for the time being please or I will just delete the post. Let's have a natter about all the relative driver merits and who they might know linking them to a given seat and things like that? |

especially when they're wrong all the time and have zero context.

most of the names were right, not in the first lists perhaps, but in the last lists.
Malja - I had it before Fuoco and Leclerc - I had it before and so on. It's based on talks with drivers, with reports on other websites and some other are suggestions. But okay, if there is no interest in it, I will stopp posting here. I want more than just post links to news as other does. I will give an imagine who the rest of the field could look like. If it's not in interest here, I will leave. No problem. |

the thing is, this is a *discussion* forum. what are we meant to discuss about a list that generally proves to be inaccurate?
like i've said on one of these threads, it's far more useful for yourself and everyone to have a context. take one team - who's tested for them recently? who's been talking to who? etc etc. that's called discussing stuff. which is sadly a bit of a lost art on today's internet. as you can see by what happens when their opinion is challenged... |

Ok, to try and provoke some discussion......
I have got a feeling that Carlin might not stick around for next season (I say this with no basis other than a hunch). Their post season testing seemed to remind me of Status last year IIRC (and Ocean Racing Technology I think it was a few seasons before that) - Seralles didn't do a great number of laps, and the second car looked to go to the highest bidder (Raghunathan). Outwardly it didn't look like they took it too seriously. I wait to be proved wrong though. Also strange to see del Plano and Hoher testing, as neither would really be considered realistic prospects for seats. Again, teams cashing in to the highest bidder? |

there was a lot of the highest bidder stuff going on race by race in both gp2 and gp3 wasn't there?
