I won't be doing all of the rounds, but there are certainly a couple that I am interested in. (namely Anglesey and Mallroy perhaps)

No parc ferme for Series (only championships) but scrut beforehand is where ride height (if applicable) is checked - but all your comments about "it's the racing that's important" is our raison d'etre

I also understand that the Classic Touring Car Club are going to promote some race meetings at the Stowe Circuit at Silverstone, including single seater races along the lines of the old BARC-SEC races. I know that Stowe is not everyone's favourite place but the races are usually good fun and great value - practice and 2 races for about £110(ish).

Will you enter the Stowe races on 17th March Andy. I've got those tyres for you.

John

That's the plan. A mix of Mono, F Free & a couple of Stowe races for this year, I think.

The Cadwell Park double header looks an attractive low-cost alternative to the clashing Mono race at Spa. I was wondering if the format of the races would allow a different driver to drive in each race (i.e. is there going to be a separate qualifying session for each race? I share a car so it kind of makes for a more economical and fun weekend if we can both get a drive at the same meeting.

Unfortunately we can't do this as there will be only one quali for both races, and we have no other single seaters at the double-header meetings which we could put second qualifiers into - but it may be possible in the future in 2008, if we are running other single seater qualifiers.. You would still have to start from the back of the grid if you had quali'd out of session tho.

Sorry - mind you these cars are so cheap on MotorsportAds.co.uk you could always go and buy another....

Given the possible impracticality of swapping drivers during a 15-minute qualifying session (although it has been done), would it not be possible for the second driver to do three laps behind the pace/safety car in the lunch break in order to qualify?

About 20 years ago I broke down on the first lap of Qualifying in a Formula E race at Oulton. As we were the first race after lunch I was allowed 2 laps when the circuit was cleared after the break, the 3rd lap of Qualifying being the warm up lap for the race. I then started at the back of the grid.

Would or could that still happen now?

It certainly can happen.

At the Combe Carnival meeting last October, one of the FF2000 drivers did the green flag lap for three of the FF1600 races in order to be able to start his own for real.

In some cases, at the Easter truck racing meeting at Pembrey last year, a truck driver was given the time to complete three laps immediately after the lunch break.

This can happen, but at the discretion of the CoC I think, and I suppose fore-warned is fore-armed.

Absolutely at the discretion of the CoC and subject to timetable and so forth - but I am sure most clerks (and clubs) bend over backwards to help the competitor.

(Did I really just write that? )

I thought you would - I can think of a few competitors (racing with other clubs) that might disagree with that sentiment though!

Press Release : First Round Brought Forward

“MotorsportAds.co.uk FORMULAFree”first round brought forward to Brands Hatch on Saturday 5th May 2007

There has been such an enthusiastic response to the FormulaFree press release two weeks ago that the Classic Sports Car Club has decided to bring the launch of the brand new Single Seater Series forward to their race weekend on May bank Holiday.

“We are expecting a good grid of these under-2-litre single seaters for their first race in May” said Series Co-ordinator Adrian Mossop.

“The low membership and race entry fees are proving a hit with potential drivers, and the huge number of cheap cars available on our Sponsor’s website are starting to be snapped up by potential competitors.”

The Series will also have rounds at Anglesey (Double Header), Mallory Park, Cadwell Park (Double Header) and Silverstone National.
