WTF was going on with that second safety car. Moffat's car in a dangerous position so bring out the SC - don't have a problem with that. Fail to move the car, oh screw lets just stick a yellow flag out instead.
Either it could have been covered under yellows or it needed to be moved under safety car; you can't have it both ways. |

I don't know why it takes so long for cars to be recovered in Britain. We need to learn from the Americans here.

The use of SC was consistent.
On both occasions, the SC was deployed when recovery vehicles were entering the active track. Once the recovery vehicle left the circuit, the SC came in. |

NASCAR & Indycar. They get recovery crews on the scene within seconds of the yellow coming out. It takes far longer than that here and it seems that the recovery itself takes longer too (if it happens at all, that is).

Yes. The recovery vehicle deployed reached the stranded vehicle, but it was deemed that a drag recovery was not suitable.
The point being, it was the presence of the recovery vehicle that necessitated a SC. Now it could be argued that the wrong vehicle was deployed, but I think that is a different argument. I'd hope that everyone would agree that if a recovery vehicle is deployed, a SC is the right choice. |

Pretty sure both those series have full time recovery crews that travel around plus the money in the series is massively higher than BTCC.

Are they not going to leave Shedden's car where it is and just cover with yellow flags?

US racing don't use corner marshals in the way the rest of the world does. Every car that spins or goes off means a full course yellow and a recovery truck dispatched. In the UK, and most of the rest of the world, the first people to respond are the nearest marshals under a local yellow; the recovery truck is only called if they are unable to deal with the issue. If you want to compare times then look out how quickly the (UK) marshals are dispatched on foot. Not every incidents needs a FCY and recover truck. Then of course you need to consider the rest of the FCY procedure in the US - lucky dog wave-around, pit stops, etc. Look at the IMSA race at Road America last weekend - they had a 20 min safety car period after a car got stuck in the gravel which took maybe less than a minute to extract and could have been cover under a local yellow. I'm not saying that one way is better than the other, just that they are different and you can't compare the two. |

Credit to Goodyear, no punctures today.
Their WTCR department looks on with envy! |
