From what I am hearing on this thread, they may as well not have bothered with f1 06 for the PS2. Maybe I will think differently once I have bought it...

F12005 was good but AI was just too plain slow. If F12006 is just an upgrade in this area (and better damage on hard mode) then it should be good.

The game is now loaded up. The intro was horrible.
The sounds are still the same in the menus. In fact, everything is the same. Let's try a race... |

Well, I have done one race.
Let's start with the flaws. First of all, having crashed in qualifying 1, I was allowed to carry on in the session. This is inaccurate. The handling is....odd. Very vague at first, then suddenly the tail comes round without warning. The commentary is so random it's funny! The McLaren pitcrew literally look like shadows. Jenson Button didn't get past first knockout at Silverstone....no, hang on, that's right. What is good? Well, I still like the camera from above the drivers helmet. Online mode? No mention of it on the box, nor is their any online logos. |

You can damage the cars at least. Better than in 05. And the debris is OK.
The Ferrari livery is badly wrong, think of the game Formula One 2002 for an idea. |

The f1 series used to be a must have each year. But lately with the mods avalible of the latest seasons on various games there is no need. And you realise the Sony series is nothing more then arcade.
However I will still get it nothing much else out at the moment for me on PS2, as I got bored of TR3. |

Arcadey is fine by me, but when everything is so flawed it is impossible to enjoy.

If the F1 games were totally realistic though, no-one would buy them. I mean, would you really want horrific handling when following another car, as in real life? As I have said on another thread...for decent Playstation f

The thing is, if f1 games were totally realistic...would you really want the car to handle horrifically (is that a word? :P) when following another car, as in real life? Anyway, as I have said in another thread, if you want to play on a decent Playstation F1 game you have to go back 10 years to find the best one.
