thanks, kobefly
it would be very interesting to hear from people who have worked with sirotkin to find out where his pace comes from. he's really very quick. |

In a grid like this, drive the safety-car at tight and fast Marrakech street course maybe is not a bad idea
heh, kidding |

Hell of a race. Sirotkin throws away another pole with a half stall. Valhaug throws away a certain win with a pit stall then Campana goes on to withstand crazy pressure from Quaife-Hobbs to take the win. Cracking!

Indeed a excellent first race, say what you like about the pedigree of some of the drivers in this Championship, the racing is still very exciting! Perhaps Hobbs was just running a bit too much rear wing though, oh well theres always race 2.

It is a terrible circuit, but a cracking race today.

Awful circuito, great race. Sad Regalia ended in the wall.
Here you have first laps of the race including Facu's crash. AutoGP 2012 - Marrakech - Race 1 - Facundo Regalia |

I haven't seen the second race yet, but I'm struggling to understand why VDD is rated so highly? He was solid in Superleague and FR 3.5 from what I've seen, but has never been a consistent winner. In Auto GP he should be dominating this championship but he's consistently behind Quaife-Hobbs, Sirotkin and Varhaug.

Not only that but he was stellar in his FR3.5 races last year when not really fully recovered from that horrendous superleague shunt. Anyone who comes back from a crash like that and is arguably even more competitive is a very good driver mark my words. He just hasn't had the right breaks. The season that should've worked but didn't, was the Epsilon Euskadi season in 2009. Don't know what went wrong there. |

But regardless of whether you think he's mega or not, he should surely be dominating this championship on the basis of his experience, especially if he's been immediately quick in anything he's raced?

He's just done a good weekend so maybe this will be a spur for the rest of his season. |

No way should van der Drift be dominating this series, sure he has been around a while & won the odd race.
Pal Varhaug, Sergey Sirotkin, Adrian Quaife-Hobbs & Sergio Campana - they go good! |

So, who do you think will win this year? Or shall I ask who will be the second?

Very much so. He seems to have that Grosjean- or Sam Bird-like ability to make the car go wherever he wants. No hesitation, just natural talent. Have to say Serenelli has done a lot better than I expected, I dismissed him as fairly useless but he's managed to race with Quaife-Hobbs, Varhaug et al pretty decently.

Problem with Sirotkin (and Regalia for that matter) is that their advisors have convinced them into dual F3 & Auto GP campaigns. Obviously you can not get more different cars than those and at such a young age (and with their low level of experience, unlike RB juniors who can get away with such things) this may do their heads.
