FIA = Ferrari Internal Assistance.
Formula One is becoming a biased farce. |

I gotta say that was a great pass Hamilton made on Raikkonen at La Source - really sold him the dummy. He didn't gain an advantage on Raikkonen as he was already alongside on the entry to the chicane, blending back into the slipstream was more or less the same as he was before the chicane.
But there is a clear discrepancy in the rules with Massa being fined in Valencia(which is pocket money relatively speaking) and Hamilton's 25 sec penalty. Clearly you can't help but think that the FIA is batting for Ferrari(and I'm no Hamilton fan). |

We had a great Grand Prix today, and this was mainly down to two great racing drivers (Kimi & Lewis). Sadly one of them crashed out, and therefore the other deserved victory. To hand the spoils to some third party trailing in the distance just makes a mockery of racing. |

Would Kimi have crashed had he maintained the advantage he deserved? We'll never know.

How can the momentum have benefitted Hamilton? Raikky's car was actually in front of Hamilton's at one point, if H had had too much momentum they'd have crashed into each other?!?!
He made an active move to hand the lead back to Raikky (although that might've been interpreted as an admission of guilt), then got passed R's reckless chopping movement (and getting tagged in the apex of the next corner). I see why the investigated it, all chicane cuttings should, but the end result is farcical. |

An absolute farce, I'd like to hope that Massa takes no joy from winning in this manner.
It seems more and more that the FIA can't stand to see that the penalties they imposed on McLaren for "spygate" haven't been as effective as they would have liked, and will therefore continue to punish them in other ways. |

'turning in on him' - you really need to watch the video. Hamilton was well behind after the first corner of the chicane and never went close to the 2nd corner as he was cutting it!
And the FIA is biased? lols |

[sarcasm alert] Superb unbiased opinion there from the stewards, clearly theres no favouratism to Ferrari [ill stop it now] Brawn almost said there was in the interview during qualifying |

I apologize entirely for that remark and request the moderators replace that section of the original post with this apology.

I am so sorry but this revised result is a joke. Such a draconian penalty after-the-fact stinks of political interplay, it would be interesting to know what the range of penalties that the stewards could introduce for short-cutting a chicane...
er, just thought about it for a second... Fair enough, Hamilton shortcut the chicane penalty applied... what about Raikonnen for weaving?? Last edited by onenastyviper; 7 Sep 2008 at 17:15. |

Kimi's Crash is a completely seperate incident..and the "penalty not being handed out because it did not affect the outcome" argument is rubbish also.
The things to take into consideration is "Did Lewis Gain an advantage by cutting the chicane" (be it pushed or not) This he clearly did because he came out the chicane in front of Kimi. This EQUALS a PENALTY.. the penalty will normally be overlooked if the driver hands back the advantage he gained.. Did Lewis do this ?? in My opinion he did he went into the chicane along side Kimi he came out ahead and droped back behind him (therefore handing back the advantage gained) at the soonest possible point short of stopping his car. Now the FIA had to decide weather he did enough to warrant handing back the advantage they clearly dont agree with my opinion. But I am sorry all those of you who are saying "he shouldnt be penalised because it didnt effect the outcome of the race are wrong" (again in my opinion) PS I dont like the outcome wither but hey what can you do when the governing body are in Ferraris pockets Last edited by russ250575; 7 Sep 2008 at 17:15. |
