CaptRustyNail should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Refering to the list above, pretty sure Ash Sutton confirmed to a second season in clios to further his learning before doing BTCC

Part for part (discounting body panels / Engine ) the NGTC Ford and Proton and VERY similar

Yes remember the 'stand off' at the start of 2014 when Mat was only confirmed at Media day, this was due to the negotiations on the cost of the seat. I can imagine the price of the seat may if gone up a bit more now! Mat hasn't got loads of backing but I bet he'll be trying his hardest to ensure he stay's in that car!

At least it sounds like they have a good amount of sponsor or sponsored driver options unlike last year.

I would love to see Jackson back in the Focus, with a really good teammate.

Assuming that the boost levels are not rejigged too much for next season, they should have a car good enough for a title challenge, and I hope they have two drivers that can do the car justice - not just one.

Wasn't Tony Gilham planning on building a Volvo for 2016? I'm sure I saw it in the build up to this season. Be interesting to see if anything comes of that.

It's not only down to the boost pressure, the Motorbase Focus proved to be fantastic also with the maximum ballast and that's is really important now in Btcc. I assume the chassis and aero are really good, not only the Ecoboost engine.

Left Jackson without a Motorbase drive would be a terrible mistake...he did a brillant job really this season. He only need a bit more of luck, it's not a mission impossible for the driver's championship

c)Costs - budgets are already under strain so this will be extra costs unless of course it is funded by extra income/guest drivers
d) The overall costs of the event, at the moment the teams turn up and do their thing. That is a big difference to a promote that has to hire a circuit and be the underwriter of the event and put an EVENT on in total.

Motorbase won't be happy without a top driver. They will want someone in the car with both the budget and the speed - hence them missing the start of this season. AJ fits the bill. AJ and Jackson would be beyond brilliant.

As for the 'festival,' I'm all up for it! As much as there are obvious costs and logistical issues involved, there is something romantic to me about these non-championship events. Maybe because teams try out new stuff, new drivers, etc. It's also quite old-school, and old-school in motorsport generally is good.

Rob Austin is a character. Do you reckon he'll bring out a Volvo or Kia just for the fans?

But trust us lot on the BTCC pages to have created 7 pages, very little of which is concrete, already in the off season - which is in its' 3rd day!!!!!!!

I think the group of team managers which have put this forward was actually set up with the idea of generating extra income for the teams, which imo is what the series needs to push it forward.

Will all teams be effectively "forced" to run the new RML gear or will it be optional? I presume if there is a performance advantage all teams will want it?

Also as a result of the new kit, will there be any technical reg changes for 2016?

He tweeted and spoke about it when he sold BTC to Automotive Brands at the beginning of the season. Not heard anything since.

I'm sure they came out with a statement around June time saying the plan was to be back with a 2 car team, with different machines (obviously as they sold the Chevy's). I did think at the time I'd be surprised if it actually happens.

Yep, I've no doubt this is the thinking in that they will either get budget from fresh or No2 drivers. The point I was making is that teams turn up to an event that is already organised and play their part by racing, which is different to the teams or group of teams underwriting an event for which the costs will be considerable.
