Last year that line read "No Venezuelan divas." It was right. Two years ago doesn't apply. First because Murphy didn't apply his rools, and second because the "pro" (meaning really good) teams hadn't taken control of the Grand Am Series yet...they would that year, with GAINSCO increasing its budget by 50% and winning the championship (that 2007 budget has since been dropped back).

(The "scrawy girl" clause in rool 3 is specifically applicable to the 2009 entry. It might have been applied to the Venezuelan Diva, but she's only scrawny above the belly button...decidedly not below.)

Correction, she is only scrawny from the shoulder out, and collar bone up.

According to Pruett, Pontiac and Lexus are similar but are at a disadvantage to the other manufacturers

The only live webcam stream I have found is

http://www.ustream.tv/channel/trg%27...aytona-pit-cam

but it only points from the pits to the approach to turn 1, so not great.

At least it has sound with it.

I don't think that is correct.CGR is starting 5th on the grid and the first pontiac engine is in the back of the gainsco and they are 11th on the starting grid.

Gainsco has won races and are the 2007 DP Grand Am champions.I think that they know how to set up a DP car for Daytona.

Starting Grid

I am not a fan of the fugly DP's and NASCAR racing in a different costume, but sports car racing withdrawals and this 'warm-up' race for me has the racing blood flowing for the upcoming BEST sports car race here in the US for 2009 in less than 2 months!!

Here's the starting grid w/o times: (On a side note I must say that although I am pulling for Brumos #58 - 40th anniversary of Mark winning this race.)

Two years ago the Gainsco crew dominated the DP category winning the most poles and the most races. Last year they finished 2nd in the DP and Driver standings but only won one race. This year the best they can do is qualify 11th. Just seems like they are slipping back a little. The Pontiac engine which was very popular for years is barely represented with only three cars in DP. GM's money problems just seems to be dragging all the Pontiac-engined cars down. Maybe the Gainsco team has something up their sleeve and will be strong during the race. Let's hope so anyway.

The amount of coverage us Eurosport users get this year is shocking, much less than last year.

Well, I hope Juan Pablo can do the three-peat (and Pruett the four), but I'm not so confident this year. Those guys will drive a solid race, Scott will anchor the whole thing, JPM will deliver hot pace when needed, but I'm just not sure they have the car this year.

Fingers crossed for the #01 here.

I think almost 1/4th time of coverage is quite good. It kinda compares to mid/end 90s Eurosport coverages of the Le Mans 24h. Of course there are still a lot people interested but motorsport fans worldwide are a minority, especially to tv stations.

I hope a Porsche can win there this time. Regardless what happens in the DP class I hope that Dirk Werner manages to win the GT's again
