To be taken with a pinch of salt, but Plato alluding to a potential two driver race in the future. 2:45ish

Great lap by Hill to put himself on pole. Beemers looking good, as to be expected. Tingram has a bit of work to do, but he isn't too far down the grid

Cook qualified 16th at Donington. Sutton qualified 18th at Brands. Hill qualified 15th at Oulton. Cook qualified 20th at Croft. I wouldn't say any of their seasons is now suffering from disaster - it is Sunday when points are won. Yes, it will be a challenge from the lower points places, but this is BTCC and anything can happen. Who knows, maybe those ahead of him will succumb to the fragile toe-link that is so loved? ![]() |

BMWs seem to like the taste of Ford rear bumper...

Chaotic race! Great between Ash & Jake, bar the lock-up!
Wonder what happened to Cook, assume he was tagged round. |

Well that was an exciting race. No doubt Porsche962fan will complain about no contact and not enough drivers being injured etc, but it was a good battle.

this weekend is different circumstance because for some reasons BMW got thier mojo back but under normal circumstances it would have been again a procession |

An excellent race 1. And if there was no BMWs out there it would’ve been Sutton and Dan Cam and Ingram and a couple of Corollas out front and still good watching I’d wager.
A pretty awful weekend so far for BTC Racing. Seemed to be contact for all 3 cars that contributed to the poor results. But why can’t they get that M-Sport engine to work for them? |

Toyotas have the same engine and they don't seem to have performance issues

Is it just a case of people taking more notice of BTC due to them being right up front in the title fight or are Speedworks for whatever reason not having the same issues.
Both Honda teams (regardless of engine) were not really where I would have expected them to be yesterday but Shedden is looking a lot stronger today... is there also an element of the other teams/ cars having caught up in the areas where the Civic was traditionally stronger (in the same way the BMW 1-Series went backwards in the last few years) maybe also? |

I think I have said before that my favourite type of BTCC race is one where the race leader is somewhat slower than those behind but is doing everything they can to stay in front (such as Plato here in 2016), and that is exactly what we had in the opening laps here with Sutton putting up a fantastic defence, and that pass back on Jake Hill was just beautiful. It is a shame it didn’t last longer, but that race was the best since Brands Hatch Indy, and hopefully we will have a repeat in the second but where Sutton is able to hold on for longer and perhaps the likes of Ingram and Shedden get more involved. It’s a shame I won’t be able to watch the last two races until next week.
