Oh and ive heard Chris Hocking has his Mk6 back, the one Eric Mills raced circa 86/87. Its in the Martini Colours and was due to run at the Island Historic meet but didnt happen, hopefully Chris will bring it out soon.....

Oh and of course the car Michael owns is pretty easy to work out, its the Grahame Blee machine which was sometime entered as a Cheetah Mk6GE from mem.....
In the picture above with Graham Blee's car, were the nose and ground effect side pods retrofitted? The OldRacingCars website refers to the car as a Mk6E, not Mk6GE. Which is correct?

I have a Sandown Programe from the 1983 Formula 2 Round and Grahame Blee's car is entered as a Cheetah Mk6 GE...... It had the ground effect looking pods from about 82....

Tony Slatterys car..I am thinking of it or Hugh Gartleys F2 car for hillclimbs. Have a buyer for my HDT XU1 V8 replica..so you never know..maybe I will make him an offer.Tony was opposite from me at Speed on Tweed in the pits.

Just read the whole thread..very interesting..I was with Frank Matich in 78 managing the Bell Helmets side of things and of all the racing at Amaroo Park I clear remember the Brians and Peter in the Cheetahs nose to tail..still think they were the sexiest open wheelers I ever saw..even if Frank said they were ok for toy cars!..Now ..at an ...older do I say?..age..I finally get to get my real race car...I am just tipping the toe in the water and Barry Singleton (McLaren M8D CanAm/Gardos F5000) is helping me along. I am only sprints and hillclimbs so am no worries to real punters out there but would love to own a MK6 if any are around.

There is a GEAR (Golden Era Auto Racing) day at Qld Raceway all day on Monday (2/7/07).

If all the ducks line up, the Mk7 For Sale in Brisbane will be there for a run after lunch.

Duck 1 - Nut & Bolt check & engine start check completed today !

Duck 2 - find a trailer to get the car to the track !

Duck 3 - finding a competant/qualified driver for the Mk7 !

Duck 4 - the weather warms up just a little please !

Unfortunately, NO.

Didn't get past Duck 1 due to a recalcitrant starter solenoid - one of the few spares I didn't have !.

Also the "Racing Fuel" in the car appears to have sealed/gummed every jet and orifice in the Webers !.

Beware so-called "Racing Fuels" and their long term effects on cars not run every week.

Time for a duck hunt !

I recall that Barry Singleton has the HTG F2, so that is where it fits in Rory's discussion.

That must be disapointing. I started up mine tonight and as usual it fired instantaneously. Perhaps Avgas is a better fuel?

Hugh Gartley actually made three cars, but I assume that you are talking about the aluminium monoque car that has pushrod suspension? I gather it must have been one of the first Australian made cars to run pushrod suspenion. I have also noticed that Hugh Gartley's transporter is for sale on www.my105.com

Hmmm...I need to be careful here...for sale?..No....but it is available for me if I want it..Yes..it is the F2 HTG 85 built car originally white now Ferrari Red with carbon fibre wings. If I can work out how to post a pic I stick one on. The basic situation is..I built the HDT LC GTR XU! V8 replica...started sprints and hillclimbs..Speed on Tweed in Sept is my 6th race meeting..the missus has got a wide on for this stuff now so we are in boots and all...I am ex GP rider..in Willing /Hansford days where if you qualiified in the top 15 you went home on Sat nite and bought champagne for the whole motel...I am in the era of Geddes, Gardner, willing x2, Hansford, Sayle x 2, Mellor,Hone..yes..Mick, Phillis, Johnson Crosby, Blake, Toombs on comeback, Coburn, etc etc..so as a weekender you get my drift.. Working for Frank with the F5000 just puts in it your blood..full stop..I was doing all the Bell Hemets stuff with all the drivers/riders so got to play with them all.. Cop this..27 years later..Bob Holden walks up to me at Speed on Tweed on my 3rd meeting in the Torana..walks over and says..Gidday Rory! the Torana looks a treat!..my missus said I didnt say a word for 10 minutes (big call for me!)while he was talking I was that stunned! So my first love would be a F5000 and Nigel wont let me have the SR4 so I guess I am back to a F2...Barry kindly will leg me up ..and a Cheetah just raised its head..No..I am not saying whom..but now I am nearly completed the HDT 76 L34 replica...and the yellow LC would have to be sacrificed to fund the F2.

Notice the pullrod suspension. Nothing like the Cheetahs and Ralts of the time. I would love to see photos of it without it's fairings.

As it looks now.

Can someone tell me how much, if anything, in the last few posts is to do with Cheetah Racing cars which is what this chassis archive thread is about? What are the HTGs and do they have any connection with Cheetahs? If they don't, I can set up a new thread to develop their history.

I do have some research on HTG's somewhere, but can't put my hand on it right now.

From my poor memory I recall 2 or 3 cars built by Hugh T Gartley (HTG) who was a long time campainer of Cheetah's (Mk6) before trying his own hand at F2 manufacture.

They emerged around 1983 I think, but I will stand corrected.
