Bike week at Daytona! Lots of stuff can be found here:
http://www.superbikeplanet.com/newind.htm/ Ominous qualifying times from the Suzuki boys in Superbike: http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2007/Mar/sp2/070308f.htm The others are still way behind, which is pretty frustrating. American Honda, call up Ten Kate! |

Well Ben Spies won an odd superbike race. Lots of crashing including Mladin tucking the front while leading. Yates and Hacking crashed and Hacking was none to pleased about it.
The non-factory Attack Kawasaki team claimed a one-two finish in the Daytona 200 after the Hondas imploded. |

I should mention that Chaz Davies finished fourth in the Daytona 200 and James Ellison finished ninth in his Superbike debut.

Eric Bostrom led early with a cracking pace, but had to pit at around lap 14 for a new front tire. Seems the new R1s (AMA and WSBK) like to eat tires. I think he was credited with 21st. The Honda riders were satisfied with their bike, they just couldn't get it working around Daytona, which is an odd place. We'll see at Barber where everyone stand.

I reckon it's traction controll, they look real loose and ugly thoose R1s.
Sounds like it was an interesting race. Many great double slip stream passes down the front straight? (Y'know Bike A slipstreaming past Bike B out of the Chicane only for Bike B to slipstream bike A down the finish line?) |

The dominance continues. Come on, Spies and Mladin are nearly a second faster! This season is looking so promising.

Race 1 was good with Spies right behind him the whole way. The demoralizing thing was how far ahead Mladin and Spies were compared to the rest of the field. In fact, in Race 1 their pace was 32 seconds quicker than last year! Race 2 was a Mladin display of dominance.
James Ellison finished 10th and 11th both races. Chaz Davies had a weekend to forget with a couple of DNFs. |

Suzuki in US is practically a works team in every way, the Yosh bikes are hyper developed, I would say even more than Biaggis machine.
And they have the best riders, Duhmale should have rretirde years ago and Zemke is hot and cold. Yamaha and Kawasaki are just making the numbers up unfortunately so far and I am not sure of the "factory" ness of their efforts anyway, they are probly no different to Santander or PSG in WSBK, just using a kit rather than factory everything like HM PLant |

Regarding the Yoshimura Suzuki Team, Neil Hodgson pointed out in an interview that they are also the most experienced team. The team has a lot of continuity, good bikes, and good riders. They don't have to re-invent the wheel every year with their bike either.
American Honda are their closest rival. However, a few years back they decided to ditch the HRC kit and go it alone. Not sure this was a good move. Obviously, they are getting better, but you have to wonder if it costs them. If I were American Honda I would be in touch with Ten Kate ASAP. The one thing over here is the rider pool. It doesn't seem to change much. A lot of the same guys are still doing the riding. They need to push these guys harder. And some should be pushed out. |

Well, Spies and Mladin traded wins, but Race 2 was awesome! I suppose if it has to be a team rider battle, then I'm glad the races are hard fought. The pace these guys are pushing each other at is impressive. No other way to say it.
Fortunately, the battle for 3rd through about 10th is pretty hard fought as well. |

For those following Chaz Davies, he finished fourth in the Formula Xtreme race, had pole in Supersport, but finished ninth.

Oh this will be another brilliant superbike race. The AMA have a tremendous level of competition. So many riders in with a shot at victory. Oops, I forgot, Mladin and Spies are here to.
