i read that the two, two hour races were going to be silverstone and snetterton this year, is that accurate and it so bleeeeeeep.

I was looking forward to a proper race at donington.

I really don't know why they have 2 x 1 hour races split over 2 days?

Yes, there will be 2 x 1 hour races for the BGT, but there will also be a 125 minute Belcar race that weekend at the same meeting- don't know yet which day that will be on.

Hope that cheers you up a bit.

Morning all,

Managed to get to Oulton Park yesterday to attend their general test. Took my camera along as always. Their were a few GT cars out on track although apart from the Barwell Aston Martin not sure if any of these will be seen in British GT.

Guy Harrington putting the Barwell DBRS9 through its paces. According to Guy they were running a non standard exhaust to fit in with the noise limits at Oulton.

Is this the ex Jones brothers Porsche 911 RSR, looks superb in this colour, hope they don't spoil it by adding sponsors decals

Any one know anything about the orange Porsche ?

Not sure if this is a British GT car or one entered in the Carrera Cup

Enjoy the pics

Regards

Tim

The white Porsche was straight out of the box and not turning competitive laps (low to mid 1:50s) so I would assume it was being run in/new driver or combination. Compares to a hand timed 1:44 for the Aston with Jonathan Cocker driving (don't take this as gospel it was only done on a watch).

Was personally only there on Saturday for the bookatrack day so did not see the orange Porsche.

DSC have posted up an entry list for tomorrow's British GT Media Day.

They've mentioned a couple of times over the winter that the Cup Class would only contain a handful of cars for 2007, but it was still a surprise to only see 4 cars listed.

Where's everyone gone?

The orange Porsche is the ex Jones twins British GT car and will be raced this year by it's new owner Gerry Harrison in Britcar and Porsche Open. The car will be run by Eurotech and Mike Jorden should share some of the driving duties with Gerry.

The official full-season entry has been released, and there are 7 Cup Class cars listed, which is enough to make a race of it.

Link => http://www.britishgt.com/newsitem.php?key=386

I attended the Media Day on Thursday, and the GT3 class does look impressively diverse. Ascari are now the honorary holder of the "Best Noise" trophy.

There's some snapshots on my website (link via profile).

Nice looking entry list. The media day included the GT4 Aston Martin, which I find quite intriguing.

I wonder if it might be a good idea to have GT3 and GT4 in British GT and leave GTC to Britcar?

Or, for those of us who don't want assistance getting our afternoon nap, have GT3 and GTC in Brit GT until it can be transitioned to a GT3-only series (allowing for homologation of cars like Mosler that aren't approved for the FIA series), and leave GT4 to Britcar. Looking at the entry list, GTC is acting partly as a 996 grandfathering bastion.

British GT Media day - Silverstone - 15 March, 2007

Just a few thumbnails from the above event taken in the pitlane:-

Note that the Barwell Astons look more striking with their new 'flashes'! Note also, in he background, the 'GT4' Aston V8 Vantage N24, which appeared to be the actual Nurburgring 24 hour car drom last year. I'll be putting more DBRS9 pictures from this event in the chassis archive.

If anyone is interested, and I can find the time (!) I'll post a few taken from the outside of Luffield, later!

It is definitely the same Aston, it's been running at the FIA test days as well. It's a pretty car, but I'm not sure I can get excited about a field of those racing around on their own.

Would love to see more test day shots, they've been few and far between.

So does it look more and more like Britcar will just become another Porsche series? and take over from bgt?
