Maybe it's starting to make more sense why Ford and Ferrari are so far ahead. A lot of things came together, there equipment is already better suited to Le Mans with low drag than any other competitors, and on top of an apparently favorable BOP for the turbo cars, it's no wonder the Ferrari and Ford just made everyone look bad. Even without turbo engines, those two cars would be the quickest in the straights. With the extra power, they have no equal. |

It's funny how every one was very disappointed and mocking the fords after daytona, sebring, and long beach.and how the new gte regs were a failure because they were slower than last year.now they are on top and beat porsche, aston Martin, and ferrari at their own game.everybody knows silverstone and spa are Le Mans bop races and no one wants to show their true speed.
its a 24 hour race and yes the gap is huge, and yes I want to see ford win.but I bet they will not hold this pace for the race, they may do a few laps or hold two cars on conservative lap time.but the turbos can not possibly withStand that boost and heat all day to lay down those laps.i see reliability issues for both, for ford I keep on having flash backs of Peugeot in 2010 for some reason.i hope I'm wrong.go ford!! |

You know every car that has won Le Mans overall this millenium has been a turbo and Ford's engine has won a 24 hour race before, right?
Reliability is a huge question mark overall and probably why they didn't bother to hold back any pace at all in qualifying but I'd be more worried about door latches than turbos. |

68 car was flawless today over the 24 hours. Muller/Hand/Bourdais did not put a foot wrong, just pure qualifying laps for 24 straight hours after they kepy getting shuffled back due to slow zone timing and safety car. The drivers put in a very impressive performance!!

I have to say that after watching the 24 Hours of Le Mans yesterday, my faith has restored when Ford won their class.
Sucks that the UK team didn't take the podium compared to the US team. |

Faith in what? The ACO excessivley fiddling with BoP? And then when doing so, failing to actually make the rest of the squads competitive?

It's very odd of people doubting the Ford GT through out year.
They fooled everyone and were mostly sandbagging during the IMSA and WEC races, so what now. What will the FIA and IMSA do now? |

They protested the risi car in the final hour because ford had to pull in the 66 earlier in the race to fix the number lights losing some time in the garage, other cars also had to do the same but not risi.Audi/Peugeot used to pull this crap all the time back in those days.

Ford's Return to GT Racing
Quote:
Peugeot protested the r15 and its legality.audi protested peugeots wing that was tilted some to lower the gurneys angle.and I remember they would always go back and forth to race control in '10 or '11 complaining about the amounts of soot we would see blowing out the exhausts. But now I'm almost curious if ford tried this to get a 1-2-3 finish...... |

One thing lost in all the hullabaloo and controversy is which one of the 12 Ford drivers ended up fastest in the race.
Scott Dixon. ...actually was that a surprise in any way? |

But that doesn't change the fact that none of the P1 classes are acting like that now, and Ford are now one of the ones being children. At least Peugeot, one of the least sporting teams we've ever seen at Le Mans, dropped the R15 protest in 2009 after they won at Le Mans. Ford couldn't even win with good grace. But they aren't alone in that - the entire GT class has acted like spoilt brats with the mud slinging and whining. So at least they fit in with everybody else. |

Absolutely disgusting showing from ford. Blasting past GT cars on the straights as if it was a P2 car, while just a month ago they looked dead on the straights. Never have i seen a less deserving class win at Le Mans. For shame Ford, for shame! At least half of the blame has to go to the ACO too.

Only track coming somewhat close to LM's characteristic long straights is Road America, expect the Ford to be a frontrunner there - they can have it, but no need to change the current BoP for 1 out of the next 5 or so tracks the series visits. However, IMSA being who they are, I'm not betting against another extensive round of BoP! |

Is the WG race sponsored by Ford? Or does it share any sponsors with a Ford entry?

Ford drivers speed was pretty consistent. Fastest laps and average laps of all the drivers only covered by 1.6 seconds over all 4 cars. Doesn't take into account slow zones or anything but that's amazingly tight.
For comparison, the Corvettes were spread by 3.3 seconds. Anyone can say what they want about Ford, but that's a brilliant performance by all the drivers. |
