New prototype sprint series for France:
http://www.endurance-info.com/fr/la-...m-p3-des-2017/ Who thought that would be a good idea? I really hope that won't torpedo the rebuilding effort that's going on for French GT right now. |

I hope I get agreement that all off this worldwide expansion of LMP3 is not exactly making me happy or excited as I think it is going to really hurt GT racing by taking away privateer teams.
What I really hope does not happen is great events like Dubai or Bathurst end up allowing P3 cars in it. Those should be GT only. |

I would love to hear Stefan Ratel of SRO's take on this. I would think by now he should recognize that global rise of LMP3 could be a threat to the Blancpain series.

An LMP 3 is half the price of a 488. Spares costs are generally 40% of GT3 prices. Also they look like a real race car - so important for a Gentleman driver - plus they are generally easier for a Gentleman to drive on the drivers "limit". PLUS a chance to race at the LeMans 24 hours weekend! No brainier really.

Dayraut makes the Mitjet Supertourisme silhouette cars. They raced together with Oreca's GT Tour.
So there's an official split, with separate calendars. By the way, the GT4-class French GT will be run by SRO in 2017, not Oreca. |

So what is the situation with the LMP3 manufacturers? We know that Ligier keeps on winning and that they are trying to find more speed from the Riley Ave before homologating. But what about Ginetta, Adess, Norma and Dome? Ginetta have moved on? Adess have a homologated turd in their hands so they can't do anything about it and nobody wants it? Norma will show up one day? Dome will never show up? Lot's of questions.
I kind of hate the homologation rules in a situation like this. IMO there should be a period where they can start racing the car, fix some problems and improve it and then lock the homologation. Although I have to admit that I don't even know that well how the homologation process works. |

Yup, SRO gets the new Peugeot 308 Cup as a support race, and I'd think the Porsche Cup.

Even AF Corse might get in LMP3 because they said that is where the customers are going. I think we are going to see a big decline in customer based GT racing in the next couple years (not factory) because of the rise of LMP3. The one thing that might keep GT racing afloat is the great enduro races like Spa, Dubai, Bathurst, etc
I hope none of those events EVER consider adding LMP3 to the race. |

It's undergoing further development. Much debate as to why has been done and needs not be retreaded, but they've delayed the homologation in order to do the development.

When would they have to be ready? Anyone looking to run one in the new PC series starting at Sebring or in Europe?

It's believed they've sold a couple cars for the PC series, but the only program we know of for certain is the one for ELMS - and if there are too many delays I could see that deal going away. |

That's actually what I meant. Really screwed up that post.
Though given the way the ACO sometimes plays fast and loose with their rules, it should surprise none of us if my little screwed up post ends up being accurate. |
