How do you plan on redoing Monaco? It's a street circuit. It's almost impossible to redo without a road map.

Chaynes321 has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Juarez, Mexico probably never heard of it but if you go on http://www.racingcircuits.net/ you will find out.

On your A1-Ring mods.

1: Maybe, but it defies the natural topography.
2: Nope, because...
3: ... this is total bullspit. You've ruined the best part of the track.
4: Uhm... No.

A new take on a great track from the past, by that I mean Zandvoort. My new design uses the revised back section put in during late late 90's, and a redesigned front section that makes the track up tho F1 standards in the ways of safety and paddock area. Not the best, as it gets rid of some of the original charm of Zandvoort, but it is what would be needed in my mind to bring F1 to the facility...

For the purists, I left the tight bit behind the pits, and some of the sweepers alone...

Good memory! Yes I did post these versions of Zandvoort some time ago, but I thought it was someplace else that I posted them? Who knows...

It was when this thread was in Trackside. And yes, i have a superb memory if i don't say so myself

Anyway, time for a challenge with a twist.....

This is an entirely hypothetical situation, but it's fun so who cares? But you gotta work with me here or this is gonna sound silly

This *is* a really well respected, and fearsome circuit, set in the heart of the, um, Alps let's say.

But, it goes through the nearby village of Foret du Lac.
Not only that but the last corner is bordered by mature trees, with no run off. And it's much too fast anyway. The first corner (the hairpin) is too mickey mouse, and is too tight for modern cars. Not only that, it is also is just before a nasty jump of sorts, which make braking difficult, especially in the rain which frequently cuases havoc on the circuit. This corner has been the site of no less that 7 driver fatalities.

You task, is too renovate the track, to Sportscar standards, providing adequate safety, and new facilities. I stress however that this is a make over, and not a total rebuild.

There are several criteria which must be met.

1) New pits.
2) Bypassing of Village
3) Addition of gravel traps where necessary.
4) New first and final turns. The last turn in particualr simply cannot remain in it's current configuration, and the authorites are calling for a chicane to be inserted there, but you can chose to bypass the corner with something else entirely if you wish.

Here is the track

Brilliant challenge, Pirenzo!

Well, the purist in me says that the nannies should go jump in a lake!

But if it's between making the changes, and shutting down the course, this would be my proposal.

I wouldn't want to touch the original layout, it looks too good!
It seems to combine elements of the old and new Spa-Francorchamps tracks, which i like alot (naturally ).

Maybe cut the La Source style hairpin into a more flowing corner, but thats it.

This is my first ever attempt at a challenge. This is for the Foret du Lac track. The red lines are my changes. I was going to build a club circuit, but it looked somewhat like a tri-oval. I redesigned the club circuit into a tri-oval, which is the black line. The turquoise or light blue line is the pit lane. The blue line that turns right off the pit and crosses the oval is the pit exit for the road course. What do you think pirenzo?

I was going to have a go at the Foret du Lac challenge, but I can only do black or green colours on the file. No yellow for gravel traps, no red for new track, no blue for pits.

Anyone know why and can help?

You need to convert to RGB colour. As opposed to 16-bit gif.
I dunno how you do it on the photo edit suite you use though...

right. try saving as a 24-bit bitmap. Reopen, and you should be OK

Here my entry for the Foret du Lac challenge. The old last turns remains intact because the new start/finish area gives a slower entry speed into the corner.
