The 1380's should still be able to mix it in class E, they might run out of puff against the Escorts on the longer circuits but can hold there own elsewhere (and then if it's wet......)

A 1600cc twin cam nova/ corsa can produce about 230 bhp and weighs about 600 kilos which if my maths are correct is 383 bhp per ton i think bills kad is in the region of 325bhp per ton. Now also you can have a mk1 escort 1600 bda which 25 years ago mine was on the dyno at 185 bhp. My mig produces 130 bhp on the dyno and weighs 590 kilos 220 bhp per ton and only have one controlled tyre. plus a lot smaller brakes than say a nova/ corsa could have. i rest my case. |

You're not comparing like with like - you're comparing a Nova pushed to the limits against a Mig spec Mini. But you don't have to run mig spec - it's not migs it's modified saloons so you can run different wheels and tyres, you can run different brakes, you can upgrade the engine - if you choose not to then you can't complain about it, the regs allow you to upgrade from Mig spec. If you want to run in a tightly controlled spec series then you can - it's Miglias not the DMN.
The Minis in Class E (the new class E) will be able to scrap with the Escorts - in the season just finished the Minis weren't bringing up the rear in the races and that's not going to change just because the class structure is different. I don't think people like Ken will have too much to worry about - bigger class entries mean more points on offer for the win. A well driven Mini will be competitive in that class. |

You were comparing a top spec Nova with your mig spec mini - they're both eligible for the class so yes it could happen. Similarly someone could enter a highly modified 1380 Mini and someone else a bog standard 1300 Nova - they're all legal for the class. If you don't want to race against modified cars then don't enter a championship for modified cars. Based on your arguments you seem to think that there should be a class purely for mig spec Minis? |

I think this is the crux of the problem Rob - the rules have been (re)written to reflect the cars currently racing not what could turn up. You are right that there is the potential for something to come along that would blow us all into the weeds but until that happens I'm personally happy to have more cars in Class E to race against and I'll take my chances against the bigger engined cars.

What i reckon if i bulid a 1600 corsa dominate the class for a season the rules could be changed again. Just for the record i have a 1380 as well You still not told us what class you race in. |

[QUOTE=Robert Morris;2580723]So to recap i have a mig. To change to 1380 becomes expensive.
Depends who builds it Rob! Also if any of you are not happy with dmn dont forget the intermarques that has the same structure as last year. Chris and myself have proved that you can mix it with the best in there and i for one would welcome more compertition. |

I not bothered about winning a championship my self. My aim is to enjoy what i do. But to have to change engines gets time consuming and expensive. Once apon a time there was a chance if you had a reliable class e mini and drove it like bill did 4 years ago, you could win a championship i dont believe that is possible now. |

Due to the troubles at Donnington this week the mini 7 club are unable to issue dates yet for next year.
Will be published asap. |
