I really have absolutely no idea what Ferrari see in Fuoco, having said that, nice bit of business on the face of it for Charouz getting the Ferrari tie up.

As expected, Fukuzumi in with Arden. Actually he''ll do, also as expected, double duty with Super Formula.

Yeah, but the FIA know best, despite so much opposition to it. Hope it doesn't come back to bite them

Unfortunately what could come back to bite them if they didn't implement it would be a massive lawsuit. The Halo is what legal due diligence looks like. Unfortunate but true.

Jeez what's he thinking. First Mitch Evans makes that terrible move to try and cling on to F2 joining Campos and it nearly kills his career until that lucky FE pick, now Ghiotto... the guy that won 5 races to Ocon's 1 in 2015 GP3 and took it right to the last race - this despite Ocon being with the dominant ART team and Ghiotto with Trident. That was Tridents best finish in points as well in 6 years of competition. Then switches to Gp2 with Trident and showed more speed in the car than anyone else in their 11 years in Gp2 (with the exception of Cecotto winning a couple of races but he's too inconsistent over a season).
A fairly subdued 2017, finishing only 4th in points but behind Markelov, and he's now Campos material where he'll be fighting hard with to get into the top 10. Hey is De Vries now confirmed with Prema? I see it's on wikipedia... well there's the 2018 champ then. |

What’s he thinking? MONEY.
De Vries. Not sure he’s good enough. Also a new car and engine and some of Prema’s bought in advantage may be gone. Also being effectively a one-car team is going to hurt them. |

Yeah although they were sort of a one-car last year anyway, since Fuoco was a backmarker apart from a couple rounds late in the year.
I think De Vries is a bit underrated since he got beaten to the Gp3 title in 2016 by Leclerc (in fact only finished 6th in points). But he did win a couple of races and did have speed but had bad race craft; ie. would use the tyres up early, do something stupid to let someone through etc. He dominated 2014 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and last year really got the best out of Rapax and Racing Engineering. He's no Charles Leclerc, but he could replicate Gasly I think. Gasly's title wasn't exactly impressive, he nearly got beaten by his rookie team mate. Re Ghiotto... Yes he could have no money left, I think that's what happened to Evans he couldn't come up with the $3mill+ anymore so had to go with the free drive at Campos. I guess Ghiotto is in the same boat. Except Evans absolutely caned Markelov, whereas Ghiotto kind of couldn't keep up with him when it came to raw speed and passing people. Amazing how Markelov has improved over the years, I wonder where he'll end up this year. I think he must have learned a bit from Evans especially in using as much track as possible, and in passing people. I sort of find F2 and the drivers changes make it more exciting than F1. F1 is just going be another of Merc domination while Ferrari and RB have to make excuses. |

De Vries at Prema has the ring of Ericsson's year at DAMS about it. Even though he's in the best team, something tells me that he'll be beaten to the title

I'll triple that, I might extremely wrong, you could lough, but I have strange feeling De Vries will have tough time with Gelael. As above, I am probably wrong, but... Nyck, I don't even see him as title protagonist! You have new boys, which is exciting, you have Latifi and Ghiotto back. This will be exciting championship, just don't thnk PREMA will crack it.
Ghiotto needed a car, he has a car... he is my title fav, but closely challenge byt British lads. |

Rapax had been out from the very beginning. Quite disappointed to see RE and Fortec bail out at this stage - we were looking at a bumper grid (well, 24) but not the case now. I wonder if its in part due to a lack of suitable budgetted drivers?

That’s a shame about racing engineering, 2017 was their only bad season really. I’m glad that Russian time are back though, it feels a bit wrong losing the reigning teams champion
