Can`t believe United won`t be on the grid next year with at least one Hypercar with their pedigree.

Hopeful the reason United haven't been mentioned in regards to any sort of customer car is they're hanging on for something else..

Entirely different animal though, previous regime gave the constructors a say and Bernie sold the rights to outside of FIA group. WEC is FIA decision with some talks with constructors but they don't make the regs

Who's though? Porsche already sold theirs and don't have extras. Caddy has their fill, Acura ain't selling any more as of yet, and other than SGR who's out there with a car??

Theres Lamborghini but I don't see them as an option. So do they hope for McLaren to join or try their luck elsewhere?

Has anybody mentioned the Corvette for Keating officially on the list? That has to be good news, one more run for the GTE Vette.

Jokes aside, this is spot on. With so many factory-backed entrants already, I am truly glad the ACO have been able/seen sense to keep the Le Mans dream alive for anyone who has the money to, errrr, burn. Last edited by J Jay; 12 Jan 2023 at 19:19. |

Is there any indication when the FIA will lock in the date for the Portugal round?
At the moment there's a possibility that the Chinese Grand Prix might be dropped for a race in Portugal which of course is the exact same day the WEC is meant to be racing.. |

I would not expect ANYTHING to be announced until then as FIA would not want to announce and the retract and get all the WEC is the greatest fans in a tizzy. Sorry but even the track would boot WEC for an F1 practice session if we're all being honest

Wasn't the Chinese GP cancelled at the start of December?

A double header weekend sounds... well I'd like to see if a shared weekend would ever work. Has it happened before? Imsa/Indycar?

So I guess we can discuss, if WEC has to move, where would a good replacement in Europe be? |

IMSA and Indy have shared a few events and have Long Beach now and Detroit in the past, IMSA and WEC share Sebring once more, Indy and Cup shared Indy GP last year F1 ain't keen on sharing with anything above F2/3 and Supercup it seems

Oh wait! I was planning on buying tickets and flights for Portimao in April. Is there a chance the race might not take place on that weekend?

I shoulda worded my question a little better. I know IMSA/INDY share sometimes, so I was alluding to F1/WEC sharing in the same way. I think itd be spectacular actually. It might have an actual benefit and have some fan crossover. I just don't see f1's management keen on the idea sharing the ticket sales etc.

Can’t see anything merging into the whole F1 circus of media and teams customer/VIP programs unless WEC in just a bit race at early am Saturday morning.
Much better to take £50m (small change for F1) relocation fee and run WEC at Silverstone or somewhere. |

I agree, I think the WEC needs to stay well away from F1.... You never know what they might catch if they don't isolate.....

With F1 making money for the teams now, I doubt they (the teams) will want anything upsetting the apple cart.
Taking the money and running (at Silverstone pretty please?) would be the best option if it happens. |
