Providing testing is restricted and the cars and tyres are all equal, I don't see any problem with having works teams, though quite what they would be in it for I don't really know.

The Italian RC Motorsport ran in WSR, F3 Euroseries and Superstars Series. They won 4 Italian F3 championships in the 90s. The French RC Motorsport is something different. I think it's a "sequel" of Exagon Engineering because Muller family is involved, but I'm not sure. |

The Lada 'TCR' car is not a fully homologated TCR car. It is only approved for national use in Russia, similar to how the Emil Frey Jaguar is a G3 class car not a GT3 homologated car

But it doesn't block Frey racing the Jag in Blancpain.

I really look forward to see how fully privateer championship works. I always thought that TCR will not work on international basis, now it is time to find out.
Should be something similar to WTCC 2011-2013, where most cars were private. Don't wan't to see Class One as the new re-born WTCC. That would put the championship in jeopardy once again, because it will be even more dependent on manufacturers than ever before. A few makes say goodbye and it's championship dead once more. Electric championship is a better option IMO. Then, why not promote the championship again as "real cars and real racing" with TCR (if it works), as that is really distinctive from what other series offer, even having only privateers. |

Lada is the same TCR car as Hyundai. Both cars must pass the balance of performance.
RC Motorsport is still more Russian than the French team, despite the registration flag, there is a Russian leader and most mechanics are Russian. |

According to WTCC website the points for each race will be
R1-27-20-17-14-12-10-8-6-4-2 R2-25-18-15-12-10- 8- 6-4-2-1 R3-30-23-19-16-13-10-7-4-2-1 Why is 7th-10th in Race 1 more points than R2 or R3? Why not R1/R3 the same points or because 2 of 3 races have standard grids just 25 to 1 FIA points system for all races. FIA want to reduce as many WSC ideas as possible. I would guess this will change but it's the FIA and Eurosport, we'll see. |

I hate the idea of different points for different races, it'll get too hard to follow

TCR becoming a new WTCC is great news for drivers and independent teams. But for those, who are interested in "constructors championship", difficult times came. It's Group 1 racing. And not clean Group 1, but BoPed Group 1. From technical point of view, there's no sense in this type of racing. For those who are interested in on-track show it would be interesting, but does anybody remember which was a points gap at the end of championship in WTCC and TCR? I won't say that the latter was more unpredictable. It was just much slower.

Michelisz Norbi said in a todays interview that a 2 car team in WTCR requires at least a 550 ezer euro budget, but this is just for participiation.
If they want to be competitive they need at least 800 000 euros. |

i guess the budget will be more because of 3 races not 2 each weekend plus the big entry fee. |

Why the big entry fee increase? Because FIA fatcat egos, and FIA likes money?

looks like Honda is in for the next year, I'd assume Jas will operate as a "non-works" team

It looks like unless they get good backing it's gonna struggle to get good numbers
